How does your Congress Critter answer this question?
Why can't I have the option of the same Health Plan Coverage that you do?

The answer CANT be/SHOULDNT be "because I'm a Senator and you are not". Our taxes pay for their plans. Why cant our taxes pay for OURS also?

1. I'd love to hear an answer from one of them on that, preferably from a republican congress critter.

3. I asked Cornyn yesterday! I told him I had visited the Office of Personnel Management

website and saw what the taxpayers pay to subsidize HIS insurance...see link...pdf. doc. I'll get a milktoast reply...that's a given. He said in his newsletter the the healthcare issue should be looked at thoroughly over a long period of time and that we shouldn't rush! Afterall, there's no need to rush! :sarcasm:

See for yourself....you'll have to enlarge it & be certain to read the column headings and then hold on to your seat:

This chart is for non-postal employees---fee for service not HMO.

5. I have FEHB as a retiree
the same plan as congress. They pay the employee portion just as I did when I was working. Now I pay it all. Believe me, I'm thankful for the coverage.

But...I want single payer. I pay, directly and indirectly, 13% of my family gross income for terrible healthcare. BC/BS still rakes 30% off the top with the federal program.

So let's quit f--king around until the insurance companies manage to marshall all their forces and stop anything moving forward.

How about some leadership???

7. Addendum -- cost
Afterthought: I pay directly just over $5000 for my FEHB. That means that if I weren't giving BC/BS 30% I'd save $1500. Every year.

And if we can get rid of the stranglehold drug companies have on us (only 2 industrialized countries allow drug commercials), I'd save probably another $750 (at least) per year.

And we haven't looked at the extra bookkeeping cost of my doctor doing 6 or 8 different insurance submissions.

Want to know what's wrong with our economy? That's $2250 I'm NOT spending at local businesses. I haven't bought a new car since 1997.

Want to know how we'll pay for the new plan? It's in that salary BC/BS just paid their CEO. Even the countries having private companies doing the payments don't permit profit.
