Daschle urges Obama to drop public health care plan???
Just read this on the Huffington Post.

So here's my question. Has Daschle gone 100% insane? Was he bought off? Does someone have photos of him screwing a sheep?

WTF. Daschle was always one of the biggest supporters of universal health care. So how did they get to him and make him vomit out this bullshit???

6. "Hard to believe"
Not really. I'm rapidly losing my faith in Obama and the Dem's.

3. Of course he did. You think his weak-kneed tenure as Speaker when he gave the Bushies everything
Edited on Thu Jun-18-09 12:52 PM by tom_paine
was a failure?

To him, it was a great success, I am sure.

It no longer matters why he is in thrall to the Bushies, blackmail, anthrax, whatever.

It only matter that he IS.

They got to him with anthrax and/or Total Infrmation Awareness. Or maybe just good old corporate ca$h.

As I said, it no longer matters WHY, only what IS.

12. Good to see you, Tom. And great post
That sniveling coward caved in the worst way to the Bushitas. He was (and still is) a political whore, going where the money is. "Weak-kneed tenure as Speaker" indeed!

4. I thought when he left Congress he was actually hired as an insurance lobbyist
Maybe I'm wrong. The name of the person or institution written onto the "payor" line of a check has a tendency to influence the opinions of that check's "payee".

5. Memo to Democrats: Grow a fucking pair
:argh: Why is it that EVERY time we think we're getting somewhere they cave in because, God forbid the precious little Republicans won't like it? Screw them - they messed up the country, they should have ZERO input in the fixing process.

10. Unfortunately it's no longer a matter of needing a little courage or spine to vote their convictions
The basic problem is that they don't give a shit about the people who elect them. They are there to take care of BUSINESS.

They take care of the people who pay them, and who might employ them directly as lobbyists and "consultants" after their careers as elected officials are over.

14. Thing is, Daschle wrote a book only last year
which talked about the need for a single payer and public option - which would be a radical shake up of the system. He also said that it's political trouble. That's why I'm tempted to think this is a case of him settling for what he can get because he's not up to what he knows would be a hard fight.

Mind you, Blue Dog Sen. Nelson's proof that in the majority of cases it is down to them being in the pay of big business.

11. It has nothing to do with fear or lack of courage.
Don't get sucked in to that tired old excuse. It isn't about public input either. It's about money and who's paying them now. If they don't give us what we want, we can rightfully assume they're owned by the insurance lobby.

7. Fuck Daschle - he was worthless as majority leader, so he became a lobbyist
Plus I think his wife is also a prominent DC lobbyist.

If you were to dig into this a bit you would probably find that one or both of them were working for insurance companies.
