Please catch Democray Now - today's program - I..F. Stone who died
20 years ago today - interview with the author of a new biography followed by a taped interview with MacNeil of the MacNeil/Lehrer Show from 1988 and a speech at the U of CA.

Fifty years ago and in later years he warned that Isreal must be prepared to live side by side with Palestinians. He was there with Ben-Gurion when Israel was established. Listen and watch for yourself.

There was plenty of historical insight contained in this hour to what was behind some political moves over his journalism career. You won't be surprised by the government deception he wrote about.

A Hero du Jour on this twentieth anniversary of his death. A good guy - with principles.

Democracy Now featured him for the hour.
Thanks to Democracy Now and Amy/Juan.

2. Interesting guy
A blogger before blogs; after leaving The Nation, he put out I.F. Stone's Monthly, a compendium of stuff he found basically plowing through the minutiae of government. He turned up all sorts of interesting tidbits that were just laying around in forgotten reports and agency files, free for the reading. And on more than one occasion, blew some pompous jackass completely out of the water by contradicting his public pronouncements with things he'd said and done when he thought no one was looking or listening.
