Is this the first time ever that a new President has been
attacked by the former President and VP in this manner.
Is this the first time they're getting so much airplay?

4. Carter criticized Bush's presidency in interviews as ''the worst in history''
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9501E7DB1E31F933A15756C0A9619C8B63&fta=y

Former President Jimmy Carter criticized George W. Bush's presidency in interviews released Saturday as ''the worst in history'' in international relations and faulted Prime Minister Tony Blair of Britain for his loyal relationship with Mr. Bush.

''I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history,'' Mr. Carter, 82, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, said in a telephone interview with The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette from the Carter Center in Atlanta.

7. Yes, but Bush was not a "new" President at the time. Carter had plenty of evidence.

15. Gore said, the administration has "recklessly put our country in grave and unnecessary danger.
In his second major policy speech in three months, former vice president Al Gore took aim yesterday at what he said was the Bush administration's exploitation of the terrorist attacks of 2001 to justify an undemocratic suspension of domestic freedoms and to create a government built on "secrecy and deception."

"Rather than defending our freedoms, this administration has sought to abandon them. Rather than accepting our traditions of openness and accountability, this administration has opted to rule by secrecy and unquestioned authority. Its assaults on our core democratic principles have only left us less free and less secure," he said.

... In both cases, Gore said, the administration has "recklessly put our country in grave and unnecessary danger."
http://www.theleftcoaster.com/archives/000749.php

....

..."There was then, there is now and there would have been regardless of what Bush did, a threat of terrorism that we would have to deal with. But instead of making it better, he has made it infinitely worse. We are less safe because of his policies. He has created more anger and righteous indignation against us as Americans than any leader of our country in the 228 years of our existence as a nation -- because of his attitude of contempt for any person, institution or nation who disagrees with him. "...

20. Actually I was there when he gave that speech
I drove over to DC and was there to hear him give that speech. It was one of the two great speeches I have been present for in my life - the other was Dr. King's "I have a dream" speech when I was a kid (raised in the DC area).

and neither Carter (your earlier example) nor Gore hit Bush day after day and on every show imaginable.

Clinton Launches Withering Attack on Bush on Iraq, Katrina, Budget

Former US president Bill Clinton sharply criticised George W. Bush for the Iraq War and the handling of Hurricane Katrina, and voiced alarm at the swelling US budget deficit.

Breaking with tradition under which US presidents mute criticisms of their successors, Clinton said the Bush administration had decided to invade Iraq "virtually alone and before UN inspections were completed, with no real urgency, no evidence that there were weapons of mass destruction."

Do you really think that any of those instances you provided are anything like what bush has done not even a half year into Obama's presidency?

12. As usual, James Earl Carter, Jr. was right.
Even if it was a violation of Presidential protocol for him to voice his opinion. Frankly, I think he's earned the right to say whatever he wants.

explaining to me that it showed how unAmerican Carter was and just another example of why Carter hated America. Go figure less than a year after leaving office both Bush and Cheney would trash Obama. Yawn.

1. George W. Bush is not a sitting President,
and
2. Carter was not his predecessor.

Boy, did you miss the point!

16. Here
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2009/06/68240561/1
<snip>
The paper read some Bush remarks as sidelong swipes at the Obama administration on the economy and national security. "You can spend your money better than the government can spend your money, Bush told the cheering crowd. "I worry about encouraging the government to replace the private sector when it comes to providing insurance for health care," he added.

Bush was non-committal when asked if he considered Obama a socialist, the Times reported. "We'll see," the ex-president said.

The former president also defended his administration's handling of terror suspects. Obama has ended the so-called enhanced interrogation techniques, such as waterboarding, put in place by the Bush administration, and has called for closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where many terror suspects have been held for years.

"There are people at Gitmo that will kill American people at a drop of a hat and I don't believe that persuasion isn't going to work," Bush said. "Therapy isn't going to cause terrorists to change their mind."

29. The former prez and veep in this case are justifiably worried about going to jail.

No other President or VP have ever been such blatant thieves and liars on such a large scale.

They know they need to be held accountable and they will try their best to weasel out of it.
