Tomorrow looks to be pivotal in Iran.
My trusted news source, the Jim Lehrer Newshour, will not be on...

Who do you recommend to watch for the best coverage, with the least bias?

TIA...

cnn/Christiane Amanpour. I don't know if she's still in Iran, but I bet she has connections. I don't get much other than the cable.

I also think Andrew Sullivan has been tuned in.

I think this will be big news everywhere, for better or for worse. I hope cooler heads prevail.

6. My dear babylonsister!
I've heard bad things about CNN...though I used to love Christiane Amanpour.

I wonder what will happen.

It is, as the fellows on Lehrer's show said tonight, the tipping point.

Where does Andrew Sullivan broadcast from? Is he CNN as well?

Thanks!

9. No, he's been covering the twitter craze here.
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/
Live-Tweeting The Revolution: Day 7

And an article:

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/06/thoughts-on-khameneis-speech.html

Thoughts On Khamenei's Speech

I think we find one clue to why he rigged the vote count so crudely. His argument that a majority of eleven million was too big to allow for any irregularities suggests he believed that a big lie was the only one that would work. But if you utter a big lie, you had better hope it could persuade some. It appears to have persuaded no one but a few fools at the Washington Post and the executive editor of the New York Times.

And the endless attempt to blame all this on Britain and the US and the "Zionists." This is a regime that is so hermetically sealed, so rigid in its dogma, so brutal in its ideology it probably believes its own lies. It is, as David Brooks notes today, very, very fragile. When every piece of data requires a reassertion of doctrine in order to banish reality from people's minds, government becomes impossible. All that is possible is brute force and terror.

I fear deeply what is about to happen. But I also sense that the Gandhi-strategy of the majority is a winning one. If they can sustain their numbers and withstand the nightly raids, and if they can overwhelm the capital tomorrow in another peaceful show of strength, then they can win. And the world will change. This is their struggle now, requiring the kind of courage that only God can provide. Their God, my God, the God of the Torah and the Koran and the Gospels.

Something is happening in Iran.

5. BBC on the web will have the best coverage
Our own "news," woefully inadequate 5 days a week, seems to be laboring under the misapprehension that nothing of note ever happens on a weekend.

You might check Twitter posts for the up to date rumors and links to YouTube films.

I think only Pox and CNN have any news at all on the weekend unless you want to wait for the nightly broadcast propaganda hour.

The Huffington Post is doing a great job in monitoring the twitter and internet sources. I check with them constantly as well as staying glued to twitter.

The Major demonstrations start early morning US= West Coast time. We should have word on how it's going when we wake up.

13. I will be watching Twitter starting at midnight tonight
They are approx 12 hours ahead of us (west coast)

When I found last weekend that Twitter was all abuzz from Iran (you might say it was atwitter) and CNN was completely silent, that was it for me, I had found my new real-time source for certain critical situations.

I'll have CNN on too, though, just to compare

Not something they could watch.

Can you explain? And do you have a link?

16. Are you sure you want to know?
It's a little bit like the red pill. Or is that the blue pill?

Anyway, it's a rabbit hole.

Proceed at your own risk

http://twitter.com/#search?q=%23iranelection

(it's basically like short text messages that appear on a website, not unlike DU except with limits, and lots of people in Iran have been using it to send messages out about what's going on there -- because they can send messages to it via their cell phones, and because the site is sufficiently flexible for people to quickly figure out ways to circumvent gov't attempts to shut down access -- so it's been a valuable tool. However, like all tools, it can be used/manipulated by all sides, especially now that it's been getting lots of attention with regards to Iran for the past week. Anyway, check it out)
