I learned this watching the network morning shows.
And to think a few weeks ago I didn't know who Jon and Kate were.

1. My thoughts exactly.
And don't you feel more enlightened now that you know who they are? Neither do I.

2. Sickening!
Two irritating people are getting a divorce, wow that's breaking news that affects the world!

Our culture really hurts itself with the celebrity obsession. I believe the media has played a major role in getting us addicted to all things celebrity; but we still have a responsibility to demand better. I have always been disgusted with celebrity worship, even as a kid. I don't know how we can get people out of this, but it is one of the cultural things standing in the way of us coming together for any length of time as citizens and demanding to ge heard.

3. The morning shows are 100% fluff
Nothing of any consequence is discussed on them. Hell, even Morning Joe has more substance, only since my cable company moved MSNBC to a higher-numbered channel, I can't even get that anymore.

My theory: This whole thing is fake. These breeders saw the shadow of the Octomom threatening their sunshine, and decided to do something to make their silly show noticeable again. I mean, how interesting is it to watch a couple of harried parents and a bunch of screaming kids?

This will give drama to the grandmothers out there who haven't been provided with enough grandchildren of their own to fret and stew about, so they have to mentally 'adopt' some TV family. That's all it's for, and the blue-haired ladies under the hair dryers with their copies of National Enquirer will all breathe a happy sigh of relief before the year is over, when they see things going back to 'normal' again.

5. Obviously - just look at the color of their skin
Okay, okay, I know that's a stretch. I'm a little grumpy over all the fawning Big Media is doing over them.

I think Neda's story is much more profound than Kate's right now.
