I am picturing the Tonight Show in the Sky
Ed introduces Johnny. The guests are Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. Doc's not there, so Tommy Knudson is filling in and Johnny's joking about how bland he is.

You know, it's like these people are extended family in a way. In these times when we are so disconnected from each other, our shared experiences often involve celebrities, music, movies, or sports.

It's a very strange day.

1. Me too!
And I don't think it's at all disrespectful, I honestly believe that the recently departed are able to meet up with each other.

I think that, while sad, they are also experiencing some relief, and I believe, some sort of joy.

2. Farrah's death is hitting me harder than Michael's
that's just inducing a sort of numbness.

3. And as a surprise Sinatra shows up and flirts with Farrah and calls
her a hot chick...Oh yeah, I like your picture. RIP Michael, Ed, and Farrah..

7. The whole Rat Pack would be there except, I think, for Joey Bishop (?).
And John Lennon. Sigh...

8. No, Joey died a couple of years ago
Even when I was little, I liked to stay up to watch the Tonight Show. It felt like being at a really cool party. I used to climb out of bed at my grandparents' house in the summer and perch at the top of the stairs, listening to it. My grandmother talked about Doc, Johnny, and Ed as if she knew them.

9. Haha, we did the same thing at our house. I swear to you the following
is a true story. Husband and I are in divorce court (NJ, you had to be in court in those days). Judge asks husband if he's happy with his representation, he says yes, asks him if this marriage is reconcilable, he says no, not as long as Johnny Carson's on. Judge smiled, looked down, and said to him, yeah, I know what you mean. We all cracked up. Lousy marriage, great divorce!

6. Yes, but taking the optimistic view...
just think how excited they'll all be when Michael suddenly shows up and does a performance!

I think there's a brief period after death where people's "souls" (for lack of a better term) are still coherent and partially connected to the physical world, and those of like circumstance probably meet up.

I know it sounds kooky to some, but it's what I believe, and no kookier than an image of meeting a "St. Peter" at some "pearly gates."

It's my view of death, and it's not grim.
