1. It's been absolutely brutal, for weeks it seems. We had a
rain shower this afternoon, 'cause I prayed for it! Definitely cooled things down a bit.

2. It's never been 100 degrees in SE Texas before?
Or is it just a record for this particular day?

I dunno, but I would have thought 100 degree days would be common in Texas, heck... we've have 100+ days in the Okanagan area of BC.

6. Probably a record high for today
Edited on Thu Jun-25-09 06:11 PM by Wednesdays
But I was thinking, only 100? It was at least 101 here in Oklahoma City today (it's 99 now). We definitely broke the record high for this day today, and we tied or broke records Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It's going to be this bad or worse here until at least Saturday. :(

It has been 100 and over but never this early in the summer. It totally sucks.

5. It hit a 100 degrees here yesterday afternoon, sixty miles N of San Antonio.
Edited on Thu Jun-25-09 06:10 PM by snappyturtle
Right now it is 98. Been horrible. The mornings are the worst because the humidity hovers between 87-89% and by the afternoons drops to the mid 20's...which helps but..............I'm from the north and to me this is worse than the 40 below zero days in northern MN. At least I could put on layers of clothing and be comfortable. Our chickens pant!

edit: This is my fourth summer here and by far the hottest so far. We've had many mid 90's days since May. Wish we could have a little rain with this.

22. I only WISH it were dry like AZ when we got some of these fricking heat waves.
The earlier in the summer, the more humid. By the time the Santa Ana blast furnace winds roll around in October, it's ofter under 5% humidity. But at that point, dry doesn't help.

15. I thought the same. We hit 102 here yesterday, but with 27% humidity.
It's the humidity that's the killer. I can deal with a 25% humidity 105 degree California any day, but I once suffered through a 98 degree day in Oregon with 85% humidity and I just wanted to crawl into a bathtub until nightfall. That's why I live in California, while the rest of my family lives in Oregon :) (to be fair, hot days like that are very rare in the northwest).

24. There is also an low pressure area of disturbance in the Caribbean to
keep an eye on. It could turn into a TS or hurricane and track into the western gulf.

It was over 100 today here just NE of Houston. Brutal heat.
