5. I may be talking out of my butt, but I think part of the problem is the
"big guys" ( Ma Bell and the major cable companies) developed the infrastructure, so any company who comes along has to use their vehicle. Which makes being really independent pretty much impossible.

I think you're reading too much into that.

Cox, like most large companies, has a PR department. They sit around all day thinking of crap like this.

Keep an eye on your terms of service for any potential changes. At worst, re-branding is a distraction.

6. Prolly tiered service, that's the latest fad.
"Unlimited" for $100 a month, or $25 a month if you're not the kind of user constantly exchanging hundreds of torrents. Oh, and the constraints usually already exist, they're just hidden fairly well. ;)
