Media striking the right balance in their coverage of the death of Michael Jackson
I remember stories like Columbine, JFK Jr., TWA 800, etc., where there was no other news mentioned for DAYS. The cablers are already starting to move on from the Michael Jackson story. All 3 are airing President Obama's press conference right now, MSNBC had some political stories earlier, CNN had some politics as well. This is nowere near Princess Diana, JFK Jr. in intesnity and of course nowhere near 9/11.

I'm not surprised. I think Michael's troubled past will negate the amount of coverage somewhat. Sure, it's a huge huge story but I already see signs of the cable nwes networks starting to move on. I think it's perfect. They're providing all the latest info to many who loved him over the world but not forgetting everything else.

As far as the broadcast networks, they couldn't even be bothered to have an extended special report yesterday afternoon and Al Roker was talking about the last great summer bake sale or something that they're going to do Monday instead of today.

By Monday, this will not be top news. I'm not saying that this is good or bad. No opinion.

4. racist creeps....
Jackson is exactly what happens in a racist culture to a young kid with lotsa money and enough freedom to flaunt some eccentric insanity - if he's black etc, that is. Michael Jackson is american white supremacy's proudest achievement (though notice how the culprits ie fuxnewscnnabcnbcpbsetc will try avoid the subject!)
The pity is they are allowed to get away with it, just like they get away with abetting the destruction of the environment in order to windfall profit from gas/oil autos etc- regardless of how many people, including presidents, killed...
