8. compared to how many references to Pelosi's trip?
I think that having the Pres's lawyer's lawyer resign is a little bigger than petty bitching.

9. FROM CNN.COM:
Senior Justice official resigns
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Justice Department official Monica Goodling, who had raised controversy by invoking the 5th Amendment in her refusal to testify before Congress, resigned her job as counselor to the attorney general late Friday.

In a brief letter to Alberto Gonzales, Goodling gave no reason for her resignation but said it was effective April 7th.

"I am hereby submit my resignation to the Office of the Attorney General, effective April 7, 2007. It has been an honor to have served at the Department of Justice for the past five years," Goodling said.

"May God bless you richly as you continue your service to America," she concluded.

The resignation came suddenly just as the Justice Department was closing for the Easter weekend, and with no warning.

Hours earlier, officials said she continued in her status of being paid while on regular leave.

15. Good question.
It would not appear to in and of itself. It will be interesting to see if Congress or her attorneys make the next move.

24. I'm guessing her attorneys make the next move,
and that it's also unfounded, and driven by the kind of political posturing that "works" on Fox, but lacks standing when the court isn't public opinion, but established federal law.

19. I don't believe moving to "civilian" status impacts the subpoena power of Congress.
I'd be very interested to see precedent excepting anyone from that power and would guess it included extremely limited circumstances. But, I've been wrong before. Too bad I'm just too damn tired/lazy to go searching on my own, tonight.

18. CNN is jumping through hoops to avoid covering the Goodling
resignation, they just cut to a garbage truck in New Jersey that caught fire and started a grass fire.

They have hardly mentioned the Goodling resignation since it hit as breaking news. Pathetic.

Admitting few people are paying attention on a friday eve.

Jeffrey Toobin is asking the question...why did she quit? what did she know?

good questions....what is the criminality she might be exposing herself too?
