"fan" response to my criticism of Hurt Locker
I've posted a comment on the movie page of The Hurt Locker ( http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/article/movie-review-the-hurt-locker-2009#comments ) saying

RIIIGHT. Make an adrenaline-fueled action movie set in an immoral and unpopular war.

Why not make an adrenaline-fueled action movie set in Vietnam and see what happens. (sarcasm)

And then some nutjob pro-war movie fan responded by writing:

Immoral war? I think you need to speak to some troops who have been there. My father is a missionary to the troops and, while there are some who don't want to be there, I can tell you the VAST majority of them know what they are doing is right. Ridding the world of a mass murderer and freeing an oppressed people wrong? Just keep watching CNN…

I don't think he's one of the damn majority who opposes the Iraq War. 1.4 million Iraqis killed by George W. Bush and Dick Cheney compared to 300,000 by Saddam. Do the math.

I am not going to watch any Iraq War movie in order to protest this immoral conflict.

Is there any advice to give this "responder"?

2. The troops didn't make the decision to be there; Bush** did.
It doesn't matter whether the troops think what they're doing is right or not. They're in no position to make that call. They're just following orders.

3. What is it about Thou shalt not kill do you
not understand? What religion does your father belong? And you do not speak for the troops. If you are a mind reader you know they are thinking Get Me Out Of Here.

5. Tell him, "Freeing an oppressed people from a mass murdered
by killing the people while not finding the mass murderer?" What part of that does Jesus tell your father is righteous? Or does your father believe God speaks only to George Bush?

or. So Jesus thinks it's moral to kill children and innocent civilians is OK as long as you're doing it for the greater good of catching ONE mass murderer?
