Levees.org Continues To Push Landrieu For DOJ Probe
For the second time this week, Levees.org, a New Orleans based flood
protection advocacy group is calling on US Senator Mary Landrieu D-LA
to request the Justice Department to conduct an investigation of the
Army Corps of Engineers' alleged coordinated abuse of public forums.
Two days ago, as reported by WWL TV Eyewitness News, the Senior
Senator responded to this request by Levees.org and stated she will
urge Pentagon officials to thoroughly review this matter.
...
“In short, we believe that the alleged activities may be far more than
just a personnel matter within the Department of Defense,” Rosenthal
said.
Levees.org's request to Senator Landrieu comes after a story last week
by WWL TV. The station obtained a 3-page affidavit with revelations
about an apparent campaign of disinformation by a group of about 20
employees at the Corps over a 3-year period regarding the failure of
the flood walls and levees during Katrina and in response to any
critical discussion of the Corps’ failures.“In these posts, federal employees hid their identities and
masqueraded as ordinary citizens, said Rosenthal. “The posts had the
combined effect of shifting responsibility for the levee failures away
from the Agency and instead onto the citizens of metro New Orleans.”
.....
The affidavit also asserts that there are numerous comments that
"appealed to racial division and at times engaged in racial slurs"
against African American citizens in the New Orleans region.
