So is it OK for Rush Limbaugh to drive a big SUV now?
Based on all the positive responses about it being OK to cut down 48,853 trees so John Edwards can have a huge house that will likely use a lot of energy to heat and cool. It seems attitudes have changed here on DU. I take it everything Al Gore talks about in his movie and his book is now just talk and we don't really care about those things now?

If that's true fine, but I better not ever see another thread ripping Rush Limbaugh for driving a big SUV on DU again. We don't really care about those things it seems.

Flame away!

1. Are you kidding? It's not OK for Rush Limpballs to consume oxygen
It's Rush FUCKING Limbaugh. Anything he does is BY DEFINITION evil.

2. That's a fallacy.
It's possible to make even a 30,000 sq foot home "green." There is no way for today's SUVs to not be gas guzzling hogs and environmental hazards.

4. A 30,000 sq foot green home will use a lot more energy
than a 3,000 sq foot home that is not green. That is a huge amount of area to heat and cool.

6. Sure
But a 30,000 green home will use less power than ten normal 3,000 sq ft homes.

5. rush is not a "liberal leader"
actually the opposite so you expect it from him.

i guess its ok for edwards to be as consumption oriented as rush because he donates money to charities, according to the many.
(even though just as much of the earth was plundered to generate his wealth as anyone)

8. I have an SUV.
My wife has one too but hers gets 31 miles to the gallon. I'm not cutting down a large amount of trees though and I make sure a property I have on a river has its wetland area undisturbed.

11. You're talking about big changes in society
That's good, but we shouldn't judge people by a society that doesn't exist yet.

Limpballs can drive his SUV, Edwards can drive one if he wants to.

But which one is going to work for the bigger changes overall in society that will help the environment?

Face it, you can only make so much of a difference on things like that yourself.

12. do you judge the work done for the poor by the car
the worker drives?

i judge rush limbaugh differently than i judge -- say fdr -- for very good reasons -- NONE of it having to do with the car they drive.

people can and do work hard for the environment, the poor, peace, economic equality, etc -- but fall in the arena of grace -- because they are well -- human.

crucify at your own risk.

you sound like a horrible snob this way.

13. What did John Edwards do to you?
Very few people deserve to be compared to Limbaugh.

I don't think Edwards is one of them.

And I am not even an Edwards fan.

14. My opinion is
that those who are wealthy have every right to spend their money.

Hello, it's called FREEDOM and in America, you can do whatever the fuck you want
with your money.

you have no right to tell people what they can do with their own money

He's rich, you are not... get over it!!!

(These are just a handful of quotes that I've picked up from DU the past couple of days. I believe they answer your question.)
