S.C. Gov. Considered Resigning But Will Complete His Term
Mark Sanford's Office Says the Governor Is "Determined to Complete His Term"

By JOHN HENDREN and HUMA KHAN
WASHINGTON, June 28, 2009

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's spokesman confirmed to ABC News that the governor, plagued by the scandal of his extramarital affair, did indeed consider resigning.
Gov. Sanford's mystery mistress has been identified by Argentinean journalists.

"Given everything that has gone on, it's obviously something he considered, but he's determined to serve out his term," Sanford's communication director Joel Sawyer told ABC.

Sanford, who announced last Wednesday that he had a year-long affair with a woman in Argentina, told The Associated Press today that he spoke with close spiritual and political associates who advised him to fight to restore the public's and his family's trust in him.

1. I thought he was ineligible
to run for re-election.

So your subject line is confusing. Resign at the end of his term?

5. Well I would hope the citizens have something to say about that
Do they have constitutional provisions for a recall and/or impeachment? This slimy piece a shit needs to be taught a lesson.

Spouting a bunch of biblical horseshit should not be a get out of jail free card for absconding with public funds even in the heart of Jesusland.

Hopefully somebody in SC will be pissed off enough to see through all the fake piety and start a movement to throw this douchebag out.

9. There is already an Impeach Sanford Movement in progress.
Grassroots, but some of the legislators are expected to jump on the band wagon in the near future.

CREW and the state Dems are calling for investigations re: any evidence of financial impropriety on the Gov's part. That's a no-brainer, since he's already confessed he stuck us with the bill for the trip last year.

There's also the little matter of him possibly violating US Trade regulations on that trip, so the Feds may be wanting to have a little "Come to Jesus meeting" with him before it's all said and done.

Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention the possibility of at least one "other" other woman (maybe 2. It's hard to keep up with him these days). The Bloodhounds are hot on his tail, er, I mean trail.

At the rate things are going, old Mark is going to make King David look like a rank amateur!
