Republicans: Michael Jackson and health care
I was watching the Sunday talking heads shows and the Republicans were talking up fixing health care by doing stuff. It's never clear to me what stuff it is they are ever going to do. It's sort of like their energy plan. They want nuclear power plants. Not because they WANT nuclear power, but because they know the power plants will never really get built and they've done their job to delay and keep the money flowing a little longer. All I know is we CAN'T have a public option. This would put the government between me and my doctor. I guess. Then of course the media pounded home the Michael Jackson story. I was thinking, here was a walking bill board for the for profit medical industry that has so very little government standing between you and your doctor if you got enough money. The government has laws that could potentially protect he patient and the doctor from being able to doctor shop, and at least give a heads up to potential doctors that this person is already on this or other medication. I mean there's a reason some drugs are prescription based and there's a reason a centralized medical records could potentially help patients and doctors. There is also the so wrong things Jackson did to himself through plastic surgery. The Republicans land home that in other country this type of for profit vanity surgery has longer waits and less accessibility. You know, maybe that's not a bad thing. Clearly the people that did that to Michael Jackson shouldn't be allowed to practice medicine. No one screams that more loud than doctors in the field that all weekend on my TV talk about how ethically they would never do that many surgeries on a person. One can point to people like Elvis and Judy Garland to show this isn't a new thing. Just got me thinking the for profit health care system not only leaves 1/6 Americans totally without the medical attention they need, it allows those with the means massive medical attention they don't need. It clear to me it's killing people on both ends of the scale. Is it really good for anyone?
