Being a Louisianian I guess it's kind of nice to know

that America and Americans aren't going to do anything for you in a crisis or disaster. That came to me reading about if there would be anything done for California. At least it's nice to know ahead of time the rest of the country couldn't care what happens to you.

1. Wow, did you forget about the outpouring from Jane and John Q Public
after Katrina?

3. Last 5 years? Huh? We've always known America and Americans couldn't care about what happens
to us.

I didn't say I ever thought they cared.

5. As contrasted to the generosity with which La. treated NY & the
rest of the Northeast during the energy crisis of '73. Or maybe you're too young to remember :

"Let the bastards freeze in the dark” & “Drive 80 mph and freeze a Yankee"

-snip-

"THE FEELING is strongest in Texas, **Louisiana** and Oklahoma, which together produce three-fourths of the nation’s domestic crude and natural gas. But ironically they are having difficulty supplying energy to customers within these states"

http://www.barrypopik.com/index.php/new_york_city/entry/let_the_bastards_freeze_in_the_dark_drive_80_mph_and_freeze_a_yankee/

But despite having been a NY-er in those years, I've been contributing heavily to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Louisiana and Arcadiana for the past 5 year, as have many many others. So stop your unattractive and inappropriate sniveling.

6. I'm all for us using the "safety inspection" route to shut down all petro industry for a couple
of months. We should have shown you people $200 a barrel oil in '05. Of course if we could get the same tax splits on our federal leases as the rest of the country, there would be very little we would need from you. But we know that will never happen.

Edwards was the last one with enough courage to even mention doing it.

4. We got plenty of money after Katrina in MS.
So much that we're still spending it on different projects.

7. Yes, but our idiot governor was a Democrat
And Bush preferred to give disproportionate resources to the idiot Republican governor from MS.

8. Having a well-connected Republican governor
did help. But I think that our Senators -- Thad Cochran and Trent Lott -- should get most of the credit for getting the money we needed. Of course, both are Republicans. It is disgusting that LA didn't get enough. After all, y'all had two major hurricanes that year. Politics should have no part in disaster relief efforts.

9. That's good to know. I'll make sure to tell my church -
- so that we can quit sending work teams to LA twice a year to work on reconstruction.
