Politicians in RI and NC want to tax Amazon.com
Amazon.com says it will pull out its Affiliate Programs from Rhode Island and North Carolina rather than be taxed to death by politicians.

Good on Amazon.Com! Why is is politicians only know how to tax and choke the living life out of everything that moves or breathes?

Now the greedy fat-cat Bankster Politicians get zero percent of zero. I hope they gag on it.

Amazon.com cuts R.I. partners over tax
Net retailer says state cannot force it to collect sales tax

PROVIDENCE – Amazon.com Inc. cut ties today with its business affiliates in Rhode Island to protest a provision in the draft state budget that would force the company to collect sales tax, Providence Business News has confirmed.

Rhode Island is now the second state where affiliates in the program, known as Amazon Associates, have been cut off over the sales tax issue. Earlier this month the Seattle-based online retailer also closed its affiliates’ accounts in North Carolina.

3. I know all States are doing it because 'they can'...
But, as always.. the cost will added into the price and passed on to the consumer.

I guess what I was trying to say, is: "Why can't politicians cut spending or look for other ways to raise money.. instead of always grabbing cash from the nearest tax payer?"

Ya, I know.. dumb question.. but you NEVER see the legislators cut their lavish life style or spending.

4. This move will put many North Carolina small businesses out of business
Why should Amazon have to pay state income tax just because they have an independent affiliate--who already pays state income taxes on their business--located in NC?

It's not about people in North Carolina buying stuff, it's about the affiliate who owns the website the link was on that generated the sale being a resident of North Carolina. Amazon will still sell stuff to people in North Carolina, they just won't pay commissions to all the independent business people in North Carolina.

Today, there are thousands of small businesses in North Carolina that are about to go out of business. Other merchants will do what Amazon has done. Tax revenue in North Carolina will DROP because of this stupid, stupid move.
