From the "Can't Win for Losing" file: DC Metro Red line train kills man on tracks
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/getthere/2009/06/new_disruption_on_red_line.html

Metro reports a man was struck and killed by a Red Line train at Forest Glen this afternoon. The transit authority said it appeared the man was on the tracks deliberately...

...The incident, at about 4:10 p.m., involved an uncrowded, eight-car Red Line train heading downtown. The passengers were able to evacuate the train by with the assistance of Metro employees. Other trains then began sharing the track around the stopped train.

2. When I lived in New Rochelle, NY, I frequently took Metro-North into New York City....
..... and almost without fail, every 20 or so trips, the train would have to stop because someone jumped in front of it.

3. Suicide by train
Bad timing on this one, though. The guy could have waited a few weeks until the train schedule got back to normal.

4. I've known two train engineers and both of them killed...
people jumping in front of them. One guy was with Conrail and the other was with the Long Island Rail Road-- they tell me everyone is edgy cause you never know when someone's gonna buy it by train but you know the odds are you'll see one eventually. And there's nothing you can do about it.

Those long, empty stretches at night are the worst.
