A man climbed on the roof and stole a security camera from the headquarters of anti-abortion rights group Operation Rescue last week, president Troy Newman said Monday.

Newman said he was working Friday when he heard a commotion on the roof. Newman said he went outside to find a man on the roof tampering with the security equipment. The man threw his bicycle at Newman and fled on foot.

Operation Rescue has been receiving threats by phone, mail and e-mail following the killing of George Tiller last month, Newman said.

Scott Roeder of Kansas City is charged with murder and awaiting a preliminary hearing to determine if he'll stand trial.

"You try to let all that roll off you, but when something like this happens in broad daylight, it's completely brazen," Newman said.

Probably just someone trying to steal the camera to hock it. But of course OR is going to try to spin this as them being persecuted.

How did his organization describe the shooting death of a man in a church. Let's hope the that brazen is a baseline for the level of discomfort his organization receives..

while the official guy was watching .... pick up a bike (his best means of escape) and throw it at the guy....and why didn't the guy give chase since he surely was already in contact with the police..... or maybe not

You see I needed a new security camera for my home. Hell those are like 50 bucks each... so I got in my truck, drove up there, and tried to get the prize. Who knew those people actually worked late...

I wont be foiled. I need some windows for a remodeling project I'm doing around the ol' homestead and I plan to come back in a few weeks to get me some windows... and maybe a toddler and some huggies for the misses.
