4. I fail to see how casinos would make life in Ohio better in the long run.

People have no money left to gamble away.

ed to add: One of this country's problems is that instead of making things, we're trying to survive on service jobs. And that's what casinos create for the most part: service jobs. State after state has fallen for the idea that a casino will solve its money problems. Well, what happens after the country becomes nothing but one great big Pottersville? How much casino tourism can you draw when every state in the country has casinos?

7. I always laugh ... bitching about how nobody creates jobs ...
and then, when they try to create jobs, bitched at ...

and then you hear how, if you close the "kwikee loan" business (predatory lending), "YOU'LL KILL JOBS!!!"

Of course, people are more than happy to literally burn money ... cigarettes ... and that's protected, despite the health issues they create ...

8. Can't outlaw cigarettes, those are some of the
few manufacturing jobs (even if it is damn near a fully automated process) left in the US.

Which is why it's critical US smokers continue to smoke American made cigarettes.

It's also key to US agribusiness and the chemical industry.

Wait, that argument FOR smoking is coming. It may not be here yet, but soon.

"Oh, you eliminate smoking ... you'll kill all the (low-paying) jobs of the (migrant/illegal immigrant) workers!"

(and don't forget the attack on Al Gore ... he owned stock in tobacco! - but didn't a bible-thumping Repug have an interest in the porno industry? The "liberal media" left that out quite often as he pontificated ...)
