Mark Sanford: Did I actually see this or did my mind generate it?
It could be another "Monkey and a pig in a banana patch thing." as by beau The Commie calls these things.

Did I really read on the "crawl" from one of the news stations that Sanford actually begged his wife to allow his to continue the affair?

"Oh, please honey,... let me fuck around on you,.... please oh please."

Then I KNOW I heard Lindsay Graham say that Sanford would only survive politically if his wife did the right thing and went back to him. Like to hell with her pride and ability to trust.

South Carolina's first lady discovered Gov. Mark Sanford's cheatin' ways in January after finding a love letter in his files - yet as recently as this month he begged his wife to let him go visit his Argentine hottie.

"I said absolutely not. It's one thing to forgive adultery; it's another thing to condone it," Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press during a 20-minute interview Friday.

3. Here is the PRINT VERSION of the story
SULLIVANS ISLAND, S.C. - South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford sat in her oceanfront living room Friday, recalling how her husband repeatedly asked permission to visit his lover in the months after she discovered his affair.

"I said absolutely not. It's one thing to forgive adultery; it's another thing to condone it," Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press during a 20-minute interview at the coastal home where she sought refuge with their four sons. They were her first extended comments on the affair.

She said that when her husband, Gov. Mark Sanford, inexplicably disappeared last week, she hoped he was hiking on the Appalachian Trail, as his staff told those who inquired about his absence. That he had dared to go to Argentina to see the other woman left her stunned.

"He was told in no uncertain terms not to see her," she said in a strong, steady voice. "I was hoping he was on the Appalachian Trail. But I was not worried about his safety. I was hoping he was doing some real soul-searching somewhere and devastated to find out it was Argentina. It's tragic."

10. Somebody tell Lindsey Graham that a chorus of "Stand By Your Man"
swelling up here as background music....well it just doesn't work.

I wouldn't say "I forgive you" to someone who has not bothered to promise to stop cuckolding me publicly.

4. I don't know but note that Sanford has never said "The affair is ended." I haven't seen that anyway.
Seems to me he is trying to have the proverbial cake and eat it also. And how the heck would Lindsay Graham know what is the "right thing" for Sanford's wife to do? Seems to me that call is hers alone. STFU Lindsay.

19. I don't know. I think he's still suffering from the delusion that he
can have all his toys: the job, the perks, the kids, the mistress...

His self-centeredness is really astonishing.

Jenny Sanford is the only one with any brains.

7. From experience, I can well imagine such a thing taking place
Some married gentlemen want to have the girlfriend and keep the wife. What if the girlfriend thing doesn't work out? Many gentlemen want their comforts, the assurance they will be taken care of, to the point that, when confronted by a spouse who knows the truth, they will start trying to barter a way to have cake and eat cake.

Some gentlemen, when no longer married, will go so far as to try and sweet-talk (former) wife into taking them back.

Some gentlemen are complete and absolute moral cowards and really don't want to give up the loving care of a good wife while acting like teenagers in rut.

14. My husband was mystified that I wanted a divorce when I found out about the floozy.
Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 09:35 AM by Sal Minella
He had been so happy, having me to wash his crunchy socks and raise his children, and having her for the hot bouncies in bed -- and if he was happy, why couldn't I be happy for him? He suggested that I should meet her, because he wanted me to become more like her.

He cried real tears when I kicked him out, couldn't believe I was so cruel.

Think this is where Teh Gov is at right now -- mystified that his wife apparently doesn't want him to be happy, when she knows what he wants and needs.

18. Don't I know it ! I was once married to a 'gentleman' who
wanted the whole cake as well as the crums. I put up with that special kind of torture for 12 years; post divorce the jerk thought he still had a chance to come back to his cozy nest. He was simply flabbergasted when I up and married a decent man.
