Right Wing Hate Getting Out of Control
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-papantonio/right-wing-hate-getting-o_b_223354.html

About an hour's drive from where I live, a miserable 60-year old man by the name of Donnie Baker murdered two Chilean college students and wounded five others. Baker has one of those simpleton minds that is easily influenced by media fear mongers. He murdered those kids because he visualized himself as a hero protecting America from the evil immigrant hordes crossing our border. Those are the same evil hordes vilified every day by right wing "conservative" media.

Baker's story was similar to Joshua Cartwright's who murdered two sheriff's deputies because, according to his wife, Cartwright was distraught that Barack Obama had been elected president. Cartwright lived in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, down the highway from Mr. Baker.
It's a place where right wing media flourishes.

These days, hate crime stories are so similar and so many in number that we begin to tune them out the same way we might tune out the car sales commercials that scream over our radio and TV airways everyday. But the Donnie Bakers and Joshua Cartwrights of the world are intently listening to the screaming airways. Not the screaming that sells automobiles, but the screaming that encourages dull-witted, troubled personalities to commit murder.

There is a new book on the market titled, The Eliminationists: How Hate Talk Radicalized the American Right. It is a book that helps us understand the connections between conservative media messaging and hate crime. Xenophobe, homophobe, demophobe, Obama-phobe, tax-phobe, choice-phobe; Name the fear and you can match it to some right wing TV or radio "talent" pandering to the most terrified, simpleton and impressionable minds in his audience. The author of The Eliminationists, David Neiwert, says that there is a formula that promotes the terminally unsophisticated and disturbed parts of America's right wing talk audience to do more than just listen to hate messaging. The basic principle behind the formula is to appeal to the most fearful and intellectually challenged portions of a listening audience. Once you get that crowd's attention, the next step is to demonize, dehumanize, and in a sense objectify the hate talker targets. That then allows the hate talker to more easily characterize the Latino, the liberal, the Muslim, the abortion doctor, and even the president of the United States as a traitor, a criminal and an opponent to everything that is righteous and decent. The process is called eliminationism. It is a process that encourages the contempt talkers audience to ridicule, suppress, and ignore opinions that are different from those of the audience. I interviewed Neiwert last week. He had an interesting way of describing eliminationism. He told me that it is the equivalent of allowing a village lunatic to wander through the town square poking everyone he dislikes in the eye with a sharp stick. His book points out that some villagers have enough courage and intellect to stop the lunatic, but others don't have sense enough to realize that the lunatic has recruited them and has actually handed them their own sharp stick.

So, in the end, a pathetic, impressionable right wing media convert murders an abortion doctor, and we see that the process of eliminationism was successful once again.

10. Sean Hannity is guilty of this in Ohio
Ohio elected a new Sec. of State, Jennifer Brunner in 2006 with her pledge to "clean up Ohio's elections" and to
give us a vote in 2008 that everybody could be proud of because it would be fair open and honest. Jennifer did
just that but the right knowing that a clean vote and early voting would not be good to "them" spread lies and
demonized her and ACORN about the massive voter fraud that was going to corrupt the system. Sean Hannity and
the Columbus Dispatch were some of the worst offenders in this area. Ms. Brunner had death threats to her because
of that crap.

This article is spot on in saying that "hate talk" gets to the simple minded who in turn feel they must protect America
or God's Real Laws by acting out in a hostile manner because it is up to them because Rush or Beck talk to them every
day and tell them "the real truth" not the propaganda of the radical left wing media.

Hate Crime Murder of Latino Students in Florida

From the DailyKos:

In one of the most heinous HATE Crimes against Latinos in U.S. history, two young Latino students were brutally murdered yesterday by Republican activist and Christian Conservative Minister Donnie Ray Baker (60). When Deputies arrived at the murder-site, they found innocent, legal (from Chile), Latino students: Nicolas Pablo Corp-Torres (23) and Racine Balbontin-Aragondona (22), deceased at the scene.

24. Yes, just ask the Rwandans . . .
I found this interesting study on the subject about how radio incited genocide:

COUNTERING HATE MESSAGES THAT LEAD TO VIOLENCE: THE UNITED NATIONS'S CHAPTER VII AUTHORITY TO USE RADIO JAMMING TO HALT INCENDIARY BROADCASTS

"Because of its ability to pervasively spread a message and its susceptibility to being manipulated, radio is a powerful tool in the hands of a talented orator, a leader with a passionate plea, or a crafty messenger with an inspiring message the people want to hear.1 Radio heightens the impact speech can have on people because it enables people in a number of different locations to hear the same message at the same time. Control of the radio airwaves is a powerful asset, and misuse of that asset can have disastrous results.

The survivors of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, who were engulfed by the racist, fervid broadcasts of hate radio, can provide firsthand testimony of these disastrous results . . .

Can we some of that UN radio jamming here?

25. Eerie similarities to 1920s-30s Germany?
I seem to recall something along these lines happening in Germany starting in the 1920s. Leftists, Jews, foreigners, homosexuals were demonized, turned into scapegoats by propaganda-spewing nationalist extremists, and targeted by hate-filled, little-brained thugs.

I'm not saying America's on the verge of fascism, just that the psychology is similar, that the thugs from both eras believe that they're channeling their inner bigot into something worthwhile. The language used today is subtler, but the undercurrent of vileness remains.

Today’s hate-spewer hides behind the first amendment, claims that his views are being censored by the “liberal” media. This is utter nonsense; they just can’t stand the criticism, anyone pointing out how flawed their ideas are.

U.S. Chamber Resists Immigration Commission to Control Flow of Workers
'Not creating an avenue for legal immigration only perpetuates illegal immigration challenges,' Johnson Says

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Following today's release of immigration reform principles by the National Immigration Forum, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Vice President of Labor, Immigration, and Employee Benefits Randel K. Johnson issued the following statement:

"The free market is by far the best tool for setting immigration quotas and picking immigrants. Employers need and will continue to fight for a market-based immigration system.

"The alternative would be a repeat of the mistakes of 1986, when legalization of undocumented workers did not provide a sufficient number of visas for people to come in legally-leading to the deaths of people crossing the border illegally and 12 million illegal residents in the country.

"If lawmakers wish to create a commission to issue recommendations on the annual level of employment-based immigrants, that would be fine. However, to give a commission the authority to have such recommendations become law unless Congress could pass a bill within a certain time frame provides the unelected and unaccountable too much power.

"To succeed, a new future flow visa program should have adequate numbers and must be sufficiently free of bureaucracy to be usable by employers and employees."

The U.S. Chamber is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.

# # #

http://www.uschamber.com/press/releases/2009/june/090601_immigration.htm

And you READ IT and it saz.......

"The free market is by far the best tool for setting immigration quotas and picking immigrants. Employers need and will continue to fight for a market-based immigration system.

TA DA!!!!!!!!!!

And since the Chamber is our countries most POWERFUL lobby it makes sense that they are the ones to blame. BUT don't tell that to the brain dead conservative base. They think it's the libruls!

If you're going to shoot people over immigration AT LEAST shoot the right people. Why didn't he go down to his local Chamber and shoot them? Because he's STOOOPID that's why!

On a per capita-hate groups basis, it looks like New Mexico is the least hatin' state. Good for them. Maine is #2.

I'm sad to see my beloved Washington and its 12 groups. What's really surprising is New Jersey, with 40 hate groups. Forty! Meanwhile, neighboring Delaware has only 4. Based on my rough assessment, it looks like NJ has the dubious honor as the per capita hatingest state in the union.
