Uh Oh...anyone see this re Cindy Sheehan?
CRAWFORD, Texas - A group that has sponsored highly visible war protests in President Bush's adopted hometown has been anything but peaceful, with accusations of money mismanagement, threats of court action and some members leaving.

A former member who has rights to the group's name is threatening legal action because the Crawford Peace House continues to operate.

Sara L. Oliver and others also want a state investigation as to why only $14,700 is now in the group's bank account, saying tens of thousands of dollars donated during Cindy Sheehan's high-profile 2005 war protest are unaccounted for.

3. No -- it was someone trying to smear her via the Peace House
and the details seemed to be more rumor than verifiable fact.

8. Why is this surprising to anyone who has been watching the Bush crew in action the last 6 years?
They bully, threaten, wrongly accuse, scapegoat and/or frame those who don't have the money and/or the connections to defend themselves.

Hopefully we can circle the wagons around Cindy.

10. The MSM is in Crawford because "he" is there
The press is fickle. They get bored. After six years there's only so much you can do with a dirt road and a bale of hay. In their boredom, they look for ways to make their individual stories stand out. Hmmm.

At the same time, there are some folks in Crawford that are hurting financially, folks who were making nice cash when "he" was riding high in the polls. Now, they have a hard time getting customers because 70% of the country is sick of "him". So, these folks flit around the press like little birdies, telling tales...

Of course, all this petty waste of air waves, paper and ink helps to keep attention off "him" and his what, 63rd vacation? Shine the spolight on Cindy and those damned dirty hippies. Pay no attention to that warmonger hiding on his pig farm.

So predictable. So what?

14. They're not as bored as they used to be; Cindy got a mention twice
that I heard on MSNBC yesterday? or today, more than I've heard in a while. Maybe the press IS getting bored, with the blivet?

17. My advice to everyone at Peace House: WALK AWAY FROM THIS DISPUTE!
I'm an activist from wa-a-a-a-a-a-ay back. Seen a lot of peoples' movements.

And when the harpie of ego gets going wild

in a movement, which, by definition, has been running on emotion and adrenalin, and has little structure, tradition and internal controls

and in which activists often become exhausted and fall prey to the delusion that "it's all up to me,"

and when there is, of course, never enough money

and a movement which, also by definition, is challenging great entrenched power, and therefore incurs many dangers (the threat of physical violence, death threats, the threat of moles and agents provocateur),

there is nothing like the personal destructiveness that can occur among the people involved.

When this happens, recognize the harpie. She is the ancient Greek spirit of discord. There is no satisfying her. No dispute can ever be resolved in her presence.

She needs to be ceremonially grounded and dissolved back to earth.

And sometimes the only way to do that is to WALK AWAY.

To deny the spirit of discord any human flesh to sink her talons into.

To not be there.

None of the piddling amounts of money that activists fight over mean anything. They are like the property in a divorce, or the property in a will that siblings fight over.

They mean that love is gone.

A peoples' movement can be very beautiful. It can be magical. It is born of that wonderful thing, consensus. A new idea. An idea whose time has come. And riding that wave of the human will to change evil into good can be a great high. And when the swirl of change has gone out from you and your little group of humans to everyone, it can leave you a limp rag. You need rest. You need to collect yourself. You need a sweat lodge. You need a way to move on.

That's when the harpie strikes.

I've seen it time and time and time again. What is happening is that the individual ego, which has been transcended by this collective idea, reasserts itself, and suddenly wants...recognition, compensation, power...maybe in the form of a book deal, control of the narrative of the group, media attention, control of funds, control of some object--a computer, the donor list, an office, a desk, it can be anything. The ego latches onto ANYTHING to restore the individual's sense of self-worth, after having been swept up in the collective will of a movement. And thinking "it's all up to me" is typical. If it's "all up to me," then others should recognize my right to control this...whatever it is... the object in dispute; or, the reverse--others have misused whatever it is (same thing--'others are petty and bad' and 'it's all up to me to carry the spirit of the movement').

WALK AWAY!

Walk away NOW!
