Private Pool Club Kicks Out Minority Kids Who Might "Change The Complexion"

A potentially upsetting story coming out of Philadelphia: a group of 60 young campers, many of them minorities, were told to leave a private swimming club apparently because of their race.

Some of the disheartening details:

"When the minority children got in the pool all of the Caucasian children immediately exited the pool," Horace Gibson, parent of a day camp child, wrote in an email. "The pool attendants came and told the black children that they did not allow minorities in the club and needed the children to leave immediately."

The Creative Steps Day Camp's membership was suspended by the swimming club and the money they paid to join was refunded.

I didn't want my little girl exposed to those kind of people.

Oh yeah, it was a Christian Academy.

5. I lived for a while in a small racist town

where the town balked for years at building a swimming pool (with Federal dollars no less!) because those white bigots claimed the pool would be overrun by black kids.

But this was in the mid-'60's.

Is that legal? In this day and age?

What sort of evil-hearted troglodytes would even try to have a policy like that? And those poor kids - treating them like that. That's just rotten to the very depths.

I wish this 'club' a terrible time, hope all the members are outed for the bigots they are. Hope the club gets sued out of existence.

9. I Hate Bigotry

Do these people even think about the pain the children must feel when these things happen. To be so young and exposed to such hatred is unhealthy. These actions only create bigotry of whites by minorities and it is one hell of a hard thing to combat when you create such negative perceptions of others at such a young age.
