from the American Family Assn (who else?):

Flyover denied - group aims to find out why
Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 7/10/2009 4:30:00 AM

An organization that fights for Christian expression in the public square plans to file a Freedom of Information Act request in hopes of finding out why the Pentagon turned down a request from an Idaho festival to have an Air Force flyover during its recent event.

According to KTBV-TV in Boise, "The God and Country Family Festival" in Nampa, Idaho, applied to the Pentagon for the flyover -- which had been a tradition at the event for 42 years. But the military denied the request, saying it prohibited support of special-interest groups.

An official said the Air Force was in charge of the decision-making process, meaning neither the secretary of defense nor President Obama directly weighed in on the matter.

And although the Air Force would not dispute the festival board's claim of longtime military participation, a Pentagon spokesman told FOX News that past participation was due to the fact that the event was described only as a "patriotic tribute" -- and the Air Force was not aware until now of the apparent focus on Christianity, despite the festival's name.

Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, offers his take on the situation.

"The only conclusion one can come to is we have a new administration here," he says. "We have a president who appears not to be open to allowing the Christian faith and the military to be celebrating together."

Mahoney hopes to get some straight answers. "I want to know clearly what the Obama administration, what the White House said about this flyover in Nampa, Idaho -- why this White House, after 42 years, denied this flyover. We're going to find that out."

Mahoney says they plan to file a Freedom of Information Act request with the assistance of the American Center for Law & Justice.

2. Good for them, but . . .
Did your elected, or preferred, representatives actually support the FOIA?

I'm all for you having the right to find out everything you want to know about how your government makes decisions.

Do you reciprocate?

5. Isn't that just like one of those people.
The government does something nice for them a few times, and the ungrateful mooches get a sense of entitlement. Where in the law does it say that large gatherings of idiots are entitled to a flyover in the Flyover?

8. That would have served as an endorsement.

Good decision on the part of the Air Force or whoever else might have been involved at the top.

9. I posted this in the Idaho forum and got no responses
But then again, the Idaho forum is pretty lonely these days.

I think the Idaho Air Guard covered the event as best as they could. There was a formation of choppers flying towards Nampa that morning shortly before the festivities got underway.

10. Check this out---
"We have a president who appears not to be open to allowing the Christian faith and the military to be celebrating together."

"YOUR GODDAMN RIGHT WE DON'T WANT THE CHRISTIAN "FAITH" AND THE MILITARY TO BE "CELEBRATING" TOGETHER!"

The poor fucking Christians, someone is always pickin' on them.
Now I know why they got fed to the lions.

I am SO sick of this SHIT!

11. They must think they're pretty damn important there in Nampa, Idaho
Edited on Sat Jul-11-09 09:16 PM by Gman
"the largest and the fastest growing city in Canyon County, Idaho", according to Wikipedia. The city with the motto of "Motto: What a Place to Live". Population estimated to be 79K in July of 2007. Yep, they're pretty damn important.

Canyon County voted last November 42,752 for McCain and 20,147 for Obama.

Or as close as possible without crashing.

If they really wanted a flyover they could have gotten him to do it.

But then, Idaho is pretty far out of the way from the Dominican Republic. :eyes:
