2. I have not checked out the ads in DC
But I am pretty sure that most places go for more than $600/month in that neighborhood.

4. No way.
Well, regardless, I bet the other people who live in that neighborhood don't get paid half what the Congress C-Streeters do.

Unless, of course, that whole place is upside-down.

(DISCLAIMER: I live in Los Angeles, rent/mortgages here suck.)

5. I don't know if I would be the best to answer that.
It's the street where "The Family" (or Fellowship) have a "church" where a few of their members who are in Congress live.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Family_(Christian_political_organization)">Here is a link to Wikip*dia's tube for them.

18. Read the book
"The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power" by Jeff Sharlet. It's a good primer on the group.

6. What is it, a hostile or a loft flat?
600 in DC is seems really cheap, but I am sure the stipulations are a real bugger.

14. Attractive home-like building.
NOT hostel or loft, tho don't know their arrangements. Maybe like apartment/hotel rooms, single/double, etc.

23. How About Per Person...
I see this place like a frat house...where the costs are spread around. It's not fair to put the full value of rental without knowing how many other people live in that house.

27. True, but ...
... these are Congressmen, who are paid by the taxpayers. Why are their living arrangements being subsidized by a religious organization?

Oh, and I LOLd with your comparison to a frat house!

LOL!

26. slightly less for mortgage, taxes and ins.
My mortgage is 438 a month, taxes are 73 and insurance is 48. So that comes out to 559 a month for a 1500 sq ft house built in 1994 on one acre in Florida, not too bad. They have to be splitting or packed in there for their rent to be that cheap or a good "friend" is making them a deal.
