He didn't consider himself to be prejudiced against blacks because he "knew a lot of good n******". I have met other people with a similar mindset.

They are placing on display a complete set of examples of the most popular ways that people who are afraid of getting in trouble for doing something wrong try to get out of it:

--Denial. "I didn't do it, it was THEM."

--Obscuring the issue by distracting people with unimportant details. Such as whether or not it's correct to call Free Republic a "blog."

--Implying that their opponents are far, far worse than they are, without any real proof.

--Saying it's no use their trying to do right, because they'll never get the credit.

--Saying their wrongdoing is all in your mind.

--Accusing their enemies of trumping up false charges against them.

And then, of course, there are all the lies about their racism--such as

"We can't be racists, because racism doesn't exist."
"We're not racists, people just label us racists because we're conservatives."
"We're not racists, because we say just as bad things about what we consider to be poor, unsophisticated white people as we do about ALL black people--regardless of education, intelligence, sophistication, etc." (Which, even if it were true, would be bad, but is a lie...I seriously doubt a single one of them has ever referred to a poor white person as "ghetto trash." "Trailer trash," yes--"ghetto trash," no.)

And the most amazing thing about all of this is...what triggered it all? A young black girl wearing a shirt with a peace sign on it!

For this, she was called "ghetto trash" and a shame upon her country!

From the way they described her, you'd think she was covered in tats, pierced in every body part, wearing a halter top and short-shorts with a swollen baby-belly poking out the top, smoking a blunt and sucking on a 40. But all the girl was doing was...wearing a peace-sign shirt.

And they still have no idea how bad this makes them look.

...of Freeper stupidity

Rim Jobinson brought this mess on himself. He may not be a blatant racist, but he allowed his site to become a rally point for Stormfronters. He then handed over power to these blatant racists when he purged his site of any and all Guiliani supporters in 2007 because he would not abide Guiliani as a potential nominee. This diluted the overall membership base of Free Republic and gave more power to the Stormfronters.

Then late in 2007, Stormfront hatched a plot to claim Obama was not really a natural born citizen. They took this plot to pro-Hillary sites and especialy to Free Republic in early 2008. Hillary supporters for the most part did not buy into the story, but the remaining Freepers bought into it hook, line, and sinker. The Storfronters who posed as Hillary supporters went on to form the PUMA movement, taking some disaffected Hillary supporters with them. The rest of the active Stormfronters remained on Free REpublic where the so-called Birther movement remains to this day.

So Rim Jobinson gave tacit support to teh blatant racism on his site by tolerating the Stormfronters to begin with, then handed them power by purging more moderate elements of their site in the runup to the primaries, and finally by jumpin on board the Stormfront based Birther movement (Rim Jobinson is a Birther).

He's birther and a racist, and the latter far preceded the former.
