For those who've criticized President Obama on his "failure".....
...to pursue the Cheney/Bush war criminals.

Can we please agree that the President is one smart mofo?

Cheney In Chains. (Bumpersticker that one).

1. being "one smart mofo"
does not mean he is an ethical or justice-seeking mofo.

2. Yep, like the euphemism of 'Chinese Water Torture' , letting things drip drip drip
until THE PEOPLE scream for investigations/prosecutions is the only real way to see that justice is done.

An Obama led push would have just been written off as partisan politics and used as a club to beat down ANY policy moves across the board.

When THE PEOPLE do the pushing, the GOP is fucked up the wa-zoo.

5. The drip drip is the key
Edited on Sun Jul-12-09 11:01 AM by tridim
Holder is just determining when the final drip drips, at which point it's time to prosecute.

Otherwise it's just another snap-Saddam hanging that buries all his greater crimes.

I still believe MIHOP is the ultimate BushCo crime. We'll never arrive there if we prosecute hastily.

He's been subsumed by the DLC. As a result, Justice will not be served, and the average American's economic status will continue to sink like a rock.

Moving forward requires more than just appeasement and triangulation.

7. I Badly Hope That He Succeeds
I was an Obama supporter from the start - and I still think that he's fundamentally a decent person that almost always wants to do the right thing. But his policies since gaining office have been awful, bound to fail and help the Republicans back into office. Do you realize that no other elected president's favorability numbers (since WWII, anyway) have dropped this far this fast? Do you want Sarah Palin as President? Me neither.

Obama will suceed or fail based on his own actions, and I'm not forcing his actions. I am hoping that enough others will join me in expressing sufficient discontent so that Obama realizes that we actually give a crap - or else so that we have a Democratic presidential candidate in 2012 that actually has a crack at implementing Democratic values.

to his poll numbers dropping so historically fast? I missed that.

I kind of liked this take on the polls in general:

14. How Else To Show It?
Edited on Sun Jul-12-09 05:25 PM by MannyGoldstein
Look, I kept quiet while Clinton sold off the country for a few bucks by letting bankers run while and by sending our blue-collar jobs to China. I'm not shutting up this time. I'll not be a Pollyanna. Really awful stuff should be held front and center for all to see.

As to a link: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=8523247&mesg_id=8523247

Actually, I looked again and he's number 2 behind Reagan.

15. I agree with YOU..
... 100%. Being a Dem is not enough, "it's the policies, stupid".

At the rate Obama is going he'll HAND THE GOP an easy victory 3 years from now. The clock in doing something real is running out fast, has probably already ran out. Too bad.

Hopefully we'll either turn Obama into a true Democrat, or replace him with a true Democrat in 2012.

18. I'm sorry but you are using the same logic
as when people said they thought the war would increase terrorism, and folks who supported the war responded by claiming the first group was "hoping" the terrorists would win.

4. The administration has done a great job on this one
Get the people a little interested. Get MJ in the ground and Pa Kettle(Sanford) back from Argentina. And start letting it drip out little by little until the suspense is killing everyone and want answers.

8. "There is no 'I' in 'team'."
Obama is a facilitator ... he organizes and empowers TEAMS of people. Holder is on the "team" and Obama knows his role.

become Dennis Kucinich and personally right every wrong on their list of "100 changes that must occur right away".

12. I know what you are saying is true but even I have a hard time wrapping my mind around that fact
Edited on Sun Jul-12-09 03:17 PM by NNN0LHI
Its like I don't want it to be that way so it shouldn't be. And as I say I understand how the system works. I was saying here last year that if by some miracle we do win in November this was going to be like trying to change the course of a supertanker with a trolling motor. I knew this upfront and still get frustrated that Obama can't fix everything instantaneously.

Weird isn't it?

Yes, Obama is a smart guy. But it's not a smart move, imo, not to pursue war criminals.
