Freepers, get the word out loud and wide. The Vancouver Sun "journalist" Chris Parry that defamed Jim Robinson and FreeRepublic is none other than radical left blogger "Hollywoodoz" at the Daily Kos. In addition to writting for the Vancouver Sun, Chris is a frustrated and failed internet entrepreneur, having launched many websites and blogs, all of which have virtually no traffic, following, or success. Chris also writes movie reviews, though these are pretty lame.

Chris Parry actually advocated attacking "negros" and blaming the republicans for it. See this post at the Daily Kos by "hollywoodoz", who is in reality, as proven below Chris Parry of the Vancouver Sun. I haven't been there, but the diversity I'd seen in Toronto was astonishing, and I hear Vancouver's similar.

I went to Camp Casey in 2005 and got to see some in person. Of course we grossly outnumbered them. But their signs were a hoot. And almost always spelled wrong. LOL

As some DUers pointed out above, this kind of ranting tends only to raise the profile of the challenged story.

I was offline all weekend. I missed the news of the racist thread on FR. I did, however, catch this DU thread about the Freepers' attack on the reporter, and I followed that trail to the Vancouver Sun story. As a result, that published story about this racist episode on FR is now cited in .

Of course, there's lots of trash on Free Republic. By Wikipedia rules, however, it's hard to get information about their worst transgressions into the article unless there's coverage by the MSM. That's why this find was very valuable. Thanks to proud2BlibKansan for starting the thread -- and, of course, thanks to all the conservative idiots at FR who made it possible.

Yes, it's up there now on Wikipedia, but the question is for how long? Even if you have a well researched and appropriately cited piece of material from a mainstream news source there'll probably be a freeper out there who'll try to remove it from Wikipedia.

I'm even now fighting with a right-winger on Wikipedia about information concerning Giuliani's much-touted "success" as a crimefighter in NYC. The right-winger wants to include statistics bolstering Giuliani's claim, while dismissing as "irrelevant" the statistics that show the drop in crime to have begun under Dinkins.

You're absolutely right that Wikipedia is plagued by constant efforts to remove even well-sourced information that reflects badly on a Republican. One reason my DU posts often include references to Wikipedia is to try to entice more progressives to edit there. A few people willing to put in some work can make a big difference. After all, it's one of the ten most-visited sites on the Web, and it's not controlled bya for-profit corporation (and it doesn't accept advertising or charge a fee to users). It's perfect for the side (OUR side) that has lots of information to convey but has only limited access to the corporate media.

It's the content on FR that bothers me the most.

Americans in general no longer read much and only hear words on TV rather than seeing them in print. As a result, they can't spell, since English has so many exceptions to its rules.

How many times have I seen "loose" for "lose" here and elsewhere (a pet peeve of mine)? And don't get me started on "its"! Apparently nobody can spell this difficult three-letter word correctly any more, invariably adding an unnecessary apostrophe.
