I need help. My parent's have Teabagged.

I just found out over the weekend. My mom said she went to a tea party. I said "Did you bring scones?" "No" she replied, "it wasn't that kind of tea party, they didn't serve tea." Huh? Than I understood. Images of my parent teabagging ran through my head. Teabagging with strangers. Republican strangers. I shivered, I shuddered, I threw up in my mouth a little.

I said "Isn't that one of those racist rallies? Where they call President Obama a muslim?"
She replied "Some did, but it wasn't racist, it was patriotic. They had bands and politicians spoke".
I paused..."Any African Americans there?"
"I don't think so" she said.
"Just white people?" I asked.
"Ummmm...not..really sure, I guess".

I changed the subject before it got ugly.

Should I perform an intervention? Hire one of those companies that 'cure' cult members?

Signed,

Sickened in Sacramento

Give the money to the ACLU, then yell "how's it feel to be teabagged, Mom?!"

7. Show her the jobs lost reports....
tell her they are the result of failed stewardship from the G-no-P (aided by turncoat Dems).
Tell her there will be no recovery through TAX CUTS. What jobs resulted from the tax cuts in the past? Just our states and country going broke because of the lost revenues. Our president is trying to create a new economy that will jump start more jobs...but we need to get behind him, because if we don't,
you can kiss the middle class GOODBYE.

8. I recommend just never talking about anything important to them again.
Go see them at holidays, etc, but that's it.

9. Unless your parents are platinum-plated, it ought to be easy to
show them how much they stand to gain by a health plan that would lift worries about what happens "down the road" for them. Let them know that MOST Americans wouldn't mind a little extra tax to keep them secure.

10. Thanks for all the helpful comments.

I may try hiding their radios and televisions. If they make it through the initial withdrawal, maybe there is a chance.

On a heavily ironic note - my dad has been diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer's, just found out.

12. Seriously, tell them "you know, I'm going to be the one to decide when to put you in a home, right?"

Sorry to hear about your dad, though.

15. Pray tell what is their reasoning?
Edited on Mon Jul-13-09 09:04 AM by YOY
Are they paying higher taxes or something...are they in 250K+ bracket?

What exactly is their gripe.

Do you need to show them the highest tax bracket over history? Do you need to show them that this does not and has not created jobs nor wealth among the general population?

Do they feel their medicare is threatened?

Very curious...if they are thinking or not. If they are thinking are they being fed misinformation?
