"Empathy" on the Bench.
The Right Wingers tell us that judges should NOT have empathy.
Psychiatrists tell us that one of the cardinal character traits of a psychopath is LACK of empathy.

Does this mean that the Right Wing wants to pack the courts with psychopaths?
Just asking.

2. I don't want that on the bench. When I was a plaintiff before a federal judge....

I would not have wanted that judge to base his decision on empathy. If I relied on (hoped for) empathy, what if that judge decided not to have empathy or simply had a bad day and wasn't feeling generous toward my predicament?

I want a judge to put empathy aside. We have laws for good reason.

I knew I had the law on my side and I would not have wanted that to change on a judge's whim.

3. Right Wingers don't have any. They don't know what empathy means.

So yes, they want people on the bench just like them; selfish and uncaring.

Empathy is concept with many different definitions. They cover a broad spectrum, ranging from feeling a concern for other people that creates a desire to help them, experiencing emotions that match another person’s emotions, knowing what the other person is thinking or feeling, to blurring the line between self and other.

I want a human being on the bench who upholds the law and is true to our Constitution but who also doesn't forget this country is by the people and for the people.
