To even think "feral" would be an applicable word...they are really beyond help.

You know, I try not to prejudge Freepers by their political and moral leanings, but they make it impossible. :sarcasm:

I thought, they aren't paying attention to popular culture in general. Almost all kids these days immulate that "feral" culture - they dress alike, they act alike, they don't see color, they see pop culture. If this poster dose not see the same behaviors (and often worse) from rural kids, they haven't been out to the country lately. I live in a small rural town and there's very little difference between the two areas, IMHO.


edited to add - thta I disagree with the statement as a whole, just to be clear. Their narrowminded outlook has no place in this modern society and the next generation will do their best to make it a thing of the past.

I haven't followed this story too closely, as I've been away, but what little I saw showed the kids very disciplined and excited to be there.

I did see the owner's explanation and his wife's look as he lied.

Sick mess. Were they afraid the black was going to wash off in their lily white pool? My goodness.

I just don't get it.

This swim club (and its neighbborhood) are near where I live and I gurantee you that most of the people in that area - - and certainly at that swim club - - voted for Ubama.

how to swim and drownings that could have been prevented with a few basic swimming lessons have been the result. One of the young men on the 2008 US Olympic Swim Team, an African American himself, is working on bringing swimming lessons to those children in order to make sure that fewer children drown.

My brother-in-law is the head coach of a swim team, and there really are efforts to teach basic water safety/swimming to African-American kids.

According to an April, 2008 survey commissioned by USA Swimming and conducted by the University of Memphis, 6 out of 10 African American children and 56% of Hispanic children cannot swim, putting them at risk for drowning. Cullen Jones, a member of the the US Olympic swim team in Beijing and African American himself, learned to swim after he almost drowned and his mother enrolled him in swim classes. Mr. Jones, along with other members of the Olympic swim team, is working on programs that will bring drown-proofing and swimming lessons to young African Americans and other at-risk children to cut down on the number of deaths attributable to drowning. And if the poster was not aware "black people could swim", he obviously forgot about, or is deliberately forgetting, Cullen Jones' stellar performances at the Olympics.
