Unrecommend has restored DU. I wish all the other threads in important

forums could be ordered by recs as well so that those <0 threads go where they belong--to the back of the line.

Same as any other criterion. I don't dismiss a thread because it's earned a <0. Nor do I immediately assume that a high rating means I'm going to actually get something out of a thread. It's a mistake to give other readers control over your own judgment.

People make too much of the ratings system. It's not intended to make your choices for you. It has totally different objectives in mind--mainly, using the people who populate and participate in DU forum's knowledge of them to publicize what's in them.

I did not come here for respect.

And if Skinner wants a new business model so be it.
But the reasons I came and stayed so long are slowly fading away...perhaps DU is leaving me, and that is OK too...I have no emotional investment in being here.
And if you are happy with free speech zones that is good too....DU does not need my permission to become centrist.

IMHO it's the aggressive/aggressives who discourage more of our 142,000+ members from posting at all. Many of those folks were the most vocal and jubilant on announcement UnRecker button, giving them the illusion of control over others.
