Sarah Palin Autographs Live Baby
Edited on Mon Jul-13-09 11:51 AM by tomm2thumbs

This is the person the GOP thinks is the best candidate to lead the United States of America. She'll sign anything they put in front of her. Including a live baby. No wonder they want her in office. Imagine the legislation they could put through under her watch.

Caption away...

The person holding the baby's arm is applying a lot of pressure.

I doubt she'll be using this pic in future campaigns.

29. Are you a parent? That sort of arching of the back and the look on the face are not
indicative of squeals of delight and joy.

I do love your folksy, happy, heart-warming interpretation of the photo, however. It's so damn positive and good-feelin' that she ought to use it when she campaigns for the family values crowd.

36. If you had kids you'd know that when babies arch back like that they
are not happy. Often they do that when you place them in a stroller and they don't want to be confined. They arch their back to try to get away.

38. I do, and I disagree. I see a laughing baby.
Moreover, to believe otherwise would be to believe that the smiling mother and everyone else there is indifferent to the alleged suffering of the child. So unless you think that all of those people are stupid and evil, then you are seeing what you want to see.

37. I often suspect Palin and Free-Republic bashing/piling on as subversive attempts by some to
keep these two entities relevant and in the news cycle. There is just something about the gleeful tone that feels canned. But that's just my paranoid mind.

47. I LOVE to bash FR and Palin--
I have too many conservative/republican/christian family members who believe the crap that they are fed by GOP talking heads. I want this warped kind of thinking (especially as it relates to racism on FR or the glorification of ignorant politicians, like Palin) to be brought into the light and discussed.

I think too many liberals dismiss the inherent hatred and violence that is simmering in the republican party and then they are shocked when a wacko kills a doctor or teens at a Palin rally scream, "Kill Obama!"

I'm gleeful today because mainstream media is finally reporting on the negative, and in my opinion, dangerous elements of the republican agenda.

49. A fetus has rights as long as they are inside the womb. Once they're out, who cares.
what it thinks, feels or how it's treated.

Hyperbole and exaggerations, of course but why suffer a baby when it's obvious it doesn't want to participate?

61. Looks that way to me.
Yes, I have seen the other poster's blow-up of the shot. I'd really have to take a photo of myself laughing virtually upside down to know what my face would look like in that position. However, I have held a baby who was laughing and who looked exactly like that baby in the pic.

Moreover- let common sense be your guide. Sarah Palin is a politician, who as a rule do not like to be photographed laughing while a child is in distress. Sarah Palin is a mother, and mothers do not general laugh while babies are in distress. The mother of the child is laughing, and mothers do not generall laugh while babies are in distress. The person taking the photograph is a New York Times photographer and the article is written by a New York Times author, neither of which would be expected to let something usefully bad go without comment, and yet the article doesn't say that the child is upset.

Sarah Palin is a big enough POS that she will provide a steady stream of embarrassing moments for us to call her on; this simply isn't one of them.
