Senate RePUKES screwing themselves royally over Sotomayor. I LOVE IT !!
Well folks, more good news for us. True to form the RePUKElicans are royally screwing themselves over Sotomayor. They are attacking her, and many have already pledged to vote against her. This will continue to solidify both the perception and reality that they are anti-minority, anti-hispanic, anti-woman, and anti-diversity. They are continuing to solidify the perception that they are the party of the ultra-right (Sotomayor has been a judicial moderate.) and that they are completely out of the mainstream. Women, hispanics, progressives and moderates will not forget the names of every single right wing RePUKElican who attacks and/orvotes against her come the next election cycle. THIS IS OUR CONTINUED OPPORTUNITY TO BEAT THE RePUKES down into the DUST !! (And of course, all the RePUKE surrogates ala Rush, Fox, etc. have been and will turn up the heat on their attacks on her. This will only continue to sink the RePUKES. I LOVE IT SO MUCH !!)

1. I noticed that they are using the exact
same talking points during the hearing as they were on the talk show rounds this morning.

Unbelievably transparent.

2. Hispanics are the largest growing group in this nation
Not a good idea to tick them off. An Hispanic justice is long overdue, imho--and we need another woman on the High Court. Sotomayor allows us to have both.

You can sum up his remarks as "you are Latina, therefore you are biased". It's as though he forgot one of his main AZ constituents.

4. Many women already don't care for the Republican Party.
As a woman, I am disgusted with their all too obvious antics. Add Hispanics to that equation and you are right. They are so screwn!

5. They are just running their playbook...
Consolidate the base (pander to the religious right, the neocons and the anti-tax types, knowing business will basically stay in the fold)...

And then, hope that the democrats screw up just enough (or that you can lie and convince enough people they have) to peel off enough independents to get back in power.

Of course, that is a strategy that worked 8 1/2 years ago but just barely. I don't think the demographic shifts in the US in this decade leave a playing field for this to be successful. Naturally, if the dems screw up badly enough anything is possible.

7. You are right. Same old playbook from the same old same old party. My point exactly as to the demo-
graphic shifts that will kill that strategy. Nice for us that the ReTHUGS are so narrow-minded.
