We never heard this shit when Poppy or Junior weer running. We didn't hear this when John or Sam were being confirmed.

We only hear such prattle when a person not white is running.

7. oh for pity's sake.

there are lots of posts about how lovely and dynamic and smart Michelle is and how adorable the kids are. Those posts don't tend to interest me because they're, well, too adoring, but they aren't condescending.

It's all about context and tone.

It can get tricky. I still laugh about the incident with Biden, early in the campaign, when he described Obama as "articulate" and got into trouble for it. Biden is not a racist, he just has a tendency to trip on his tongue.

for the Bush girls, in the beginning. Who could be anything but distraught with a family like theirs? Even as they started exercising their right to be rebellious and sloppy, I could feel for them. What to do, what to do (other than shoot yourself) - when your daddy is GWB?

Had I been in their position I'm sure I would have rebelled. I would have probably embarrassed him a few times. That they embarrassed themselves should be the bigger consideration, though.

Under the circumstances, had they grown into progressive minded individuals, I could have forgiven them their antics. Too bad they've ended up the way they have.
