Republican Congresswoman takes credit for stimulus projects she voted against
West Virginia's Shelley Moore Capito, the woman the GOP has been itching to put in Sen Byrd's seat for years

Earlier this year, Capito said she supported stimulus infrastructure spending, but just couldn't bring herself to vote for it. Looking over her July 2009 press releases, she sure is claiming single-handed credit for spending she wasn't so keen on a few months back.

Capito Announces $800,000 for Poca Wastewater System Upgrades (July 10, 2009)
Capito Secures $1 Million for Water Infrastructure Upgrades in Clay (July 8, 2009)
Capito Secures $275,000 for East Bank Water Project (July 1, 2009)
Republican Rep. Shelley Moore Capito is showing new levels of hypocrisy and double-talking. She's taking credit for the very projects she voted against.

2. Make sure that this is repeatedly stated
during the campaigns ...

Make sure that people near you write letters to the newspapers exposing the lies ...

4. The beauty of being a naysayer
If you're overruled, you just get in line for the goodies, and tell your idiot constituents what a fiscal hawk you are. If you vote against something and it fails, then you get to crow about what a champion you are.

During periods of Democratic hegemony, it's good to be a monkey-wrenching back bencher. While Democrats were getting us out of Hoover's Great Depression, winning World War II, instituting the Great Society, enacting Civil Rights and presenting balanced budgets during Democratic administrations between 1933 and 2001, what legacy or legacies do we have from the Republicans? Greater prosperity? Uh, no. Greater security? Only if you have the bucks to live in a gated community in the first place. What purpose do Republicans serve?

5. The Great Molly Ivins called this behavior "Grammstanding"
In dis-honor of Phil Gramm, who did this all the time.
