Another idea to help fund public health care option: tax on HFCS products.
High Fructose Corn Syrup is a huge problem in American's processed foods, and it has been shown to cause all sorts of health problems. Why not tax food product based on their HFCS content, with the funds going to help fund a public option for health care?

2. How about progressive taxation?
Raise the top marginal rate. Create a new higher bracket. Tax capital gains as income.

Why sin tax? Does sin tax reduce sin significantly (honest question). Will a tax on it really reduce end users from drinking it? If so, by how much? How much of a cost savings does that translate to, in terms of how many fewer have chronic health problems?

3. Anything BUT a 12% of gross income tax on the uninsured.
That's what's on the table at the moment, and it's insane.

4. Legalize and tax pot.
Release crims incarcerated for pot-related (only) crimes.

There. Next problem?
