We have undercover Trolls on this Board....

We have been a target of their sick disruption for several years. Many, many of them to be exact. Their mission is only to survive as a DU member for the soul purpose of caustic discussion thread infection.

It's obvious by the topic of Edwards house, which gets our attention by these Trolls only because we give them the POWER.

Sometimes the Trolls ban together and play things up to give real DU'ers the false impression of the Thread being a discussion item....all along it's just bait.

Use your instincts and avoid the trap. Stop giving them the power to distract our discussion from such jubulent events like the D.C War Protest or trashing neo-cons. O8)

We know who you disruptive trolls are, and we're coming to get you.

People seem to be using the term troll for something else they mean. This is a classic trolling post. It is not meant for a conversation or debate, but to stir people up. Um, THAT IS A TROLLING POST. Sure it is one you agree with. But it is hillarious that folks here are talking about how they are experts at troll posts and then they are partaking in a classic!

No, I did not attend this time....I wimped out. In November, after the election, I took the time to evaluate my future schedule. I am off work this weekend but.....I was in the mind-set "then" that D.C would be too cold to march........so I didn't make reservations. I came darn close to just leaving last night.................

So, I sat back and watched C-Span, honoring all my friends speak like YOU speaking up loudly, with bravery and honor for all of us.

there are still many fabulous people here, with great comments and ideas, but I've certainly noticed an uptick in the GOP disruptors. It seems even worse than it was in 2003, and it has started early. I wish there was a way to separate the wheat from the chafe, sigh.

Certainly there are a few trolls. But if you check the other posts of those with opinions on this counter to yours, you will see they are not trolls. Just people with different opinions. Do you really think that stereotyping folks who disagree with you as "enemies" is healthy and democratic?

Most of the posts in the "John Edwards House" threads were earnest, not trolling. But they are being called trolls. That is "not distinguishing".

The OP in one of them went too emotional for my taste with the picture of the little girl, but the points being made were earnes opinions. It is not healthy to just brush them aside as "trolling".

This would be hillarious if it were not somewhat offensive. The entire purpose of this thread is to stir up controversy and get people emotionally involved. Not making a point. Um, have to break it to you folks. You just partook in a trolling thread LOL!

because on that other messageboard, the one that some DUers sometimes call "Certifiable". They refer to their DU user accounts as "moles". (as in double agent) Makes trolling sound more noble to them. They admit to starting things and stirring up trouble through their "moles".
I doubt they're paid operatives of the Republican party, they seem to be doing it for kicks. However, I am sure there is definately covert political and corporate operatives all over the internet.

Absolute trolls are obvious. Then there are those who have an honest difference of opinion because they have passionate conviction stemming from their own personal philosophies. Then there are others who usually hold a progressive opinion or "mainstream DU" opinion, but they diverge from that on certain subjects. Doesn't mean they're trolls. It doesn't mean they're wrong, either, simply because they disagree and want their opinion posted here.

As for the actual bona fide trolls, it may seem to be best not to "feed the trolls," but remember that part of their modus operandi is to post on DU so that their posts can be quoted elsewhere as evidence of our "moonbattiness." This is why we respond and slam the opinions of obvious trolls, so that there will be no mistake that DU'ers do not share their opinion.

I have no problem with rompin' stompin flame-fests on DU. To me, it's no different than a fight on a sawdust floor, and I hope when it's over that people can shake hands and -- I hate to say this cliche -- just agree to disagree, and move on to subjects of more importance where they can work together.
