MSNBC Has Armstrong Williams Commenting On Imus!!
david gregory is hosting hardball

he has had a couple people in person discussing the imus/msnbc business, and a couple people on the phone (including jesse jackson sr.)

AND including armstrong williams who was putting in his two cents about the morals/ethics of the imus situation

and i thought: hum...i know that name...armstrong williams...armstrong williams...mr. no child left behind sellout!

what the fuck is WRONG WITH MSNBC?? (isn't dan abrams running it now? he cried over lacey peterson's underwear drawer, you know--i saw him!)

"In January 2005, USA Today reported that documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act revealed that Williams had been paid $240,000 to promote the controversial No Child Left Behind Act ("NCLB") of the Bush administration. According to USA Today, Williams was hired to "to promote the law on his nationally syndicated television show and to urge other black journalists to do the same."

"Melanie Sloan from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington told USA Today that the contract may be illegal "because Congress has prohibited propaganda," or any sort of lobbying for programs funded by the government. "And it's propaganda," she said. Representative George Miller, a member of the House Education Committee, called the contract "a very questionable use of taxpayers' money" that is "probably illegal."

snip

"On September 30, 2005, the Government Accountability Office released a report concluding that the payments to Williams were illegal on the part of the Department of Education because the government's role in the public relations effort was not disclosed

did williams regain his credibility and i'm just behind the times on this? is he a "trusted" voice in journalism after being bribed by bush to push that fucking NCLB on the rest of us?

1. I couldn't believe it, either.
I thought it was absolutely unbelievable when I heard him say something to the effect of...Imus has LOST HIS CREDIBILITY. Isn't that rich coming from Williams?

3. maybe that's why...
maybe MSNBC wants to degrade the whole imus episode by giving a bankrupt voice such as williams recognition as one of the black voices of criticism? it's just the type of thing the imus network would do....too bad williams is so far gone he'd go along with it...

2. Olberman was wishy-washy on Imus today
He does an hour with Dan Patrick every day on ESPN radio and he seemed surprisingly gutless in discussing this topic.

5. what the F? olbermann?
makes me want to say: "SUZY CREAMCHEESE, WHAT'S GOT INTO YOU BABY?"

(certainly it wouldn't have anything to do with a neutering four year contract w/msnbc keith signed, now would it?)

definition of neutering:
we'll give you four years if you SHUT THE HELL UP!

7. i realize it's hard
but journalists have to police their own profession vigorously
even if it means smacking down their friends and corporate masters.

without integrity... they are nothing

6. Who better to comment on what "ho" means than a proven presstitute?

True to form, Armstrong (but brain weak) pandered to the "free market" and the entitlements (which he calls 'rights') of big business, making absolutely no reference to the public interest in licensing the broadcast media.

8. Loyal Bushies are ALWAYS accorded disproportionate credibility

considering how simply festering and awash they all are demonstrable lies, this is no small feat.

Operation Mockingbird v2.0?

The old "pretend like you know what you're doing and sheep will fall in line" bit?

It is pretty inexplicable, but no matter how much they lie, no matter how incompetently wrong they are again and again and AGAIN, they can always get the "microphone" whenever they wish it.

In Bushtopia, lying carries no consequences, expect perhaps reward and promotion from Bushevik Leadership.

9. Why hasn't Imus been Keith's "Worst Person in the World"?
I agree, he must be as tough on his own as he is with the clowns at Faux.
