1. So am I..I just read an
article about him in a Rolling Stone from late last year. Said he was 60 now and when he's 67 he's going to Maui and become a preacher..he says he's very spiritual. I never knew anything about his private life ..just that he was at Woodstock and killed before he had any records out.

2. I once sat next to Carlos on a flight back to San Francisco from...
NYC. I was awestruck and mumbled something like, "I am a HUGE fan of your music!". He said. "Thanks for listening", went back to reading his book and ignored me for the rest of the flight.

9. He and some of his band sat behind us in a movie theatre
It was back in the '70s. They were in the movie about Woodstock. They came in just at the right time to watch their set and then they left.

The thing is that I wasn't a fan at the time. My sis in law and I were drinking and when the band was playing we were bad mouthing them - until my brother leaned over and informed us that they were sitting right behind us. We fled laughing to the ladies room.

So if he wasn't very cordial to you, f 'em. :D

7. Black Magic Woman ... Oye Como Va ... music that's still better than 95% of the rest.

His 'Abraxas' album was STUPENDOUS! It just doesn't get old ... and still enthralls me.

Back "in the day" it was great stuff to play with the color organs blazing and the hash pipe warming the soul.

10. I hope you have his album from South America.
It's red, and it's HOT! And old.

I could go look it up, but I'm pooped.
