Now who is going to apologize to who? And I go back to what PRESIDENT said, the cops acted STUPIDLY, and the cop LIED LIED LIED and it's IN his report!

Fire the lying bastard. Now ALL of his arrests are suspect.

2. I think cops lie or screw up their reports more than most people realize
there really should be better auditing of their reports, in general. This is a prime example of why.

3. There are some good cops...
but it really does take a 'special' kind of person to want to be the authoritarian, all-powerful, gun-toting cop. And that 'special' kind of person is usually someone who should never be given a gun or power of any kind.

4. A "good" cop is a cop who is not performing his job properly
The Serpicos of the police force are few and far between.

5. I know some great cops, stand up guys who defuse bad situations
and don't let their ego get in the way. This cop Crowley (?) Growley, is a liar and he didn't leave his ego at the door.

9. The corruption in the police forces is quite high, nevertheless. Lying is routine. nt

7. Exactly
Being a good cop isn't fun. It's a lot of work and demoralizing if you want to make a real difference. Being a bully with a license to be an asshole? That's a different story for the kind of person who enjoys that.

6. Are they lying or are they just stupid? Always hard to tel....
I tend to default to thinking they're just lying, since I'm averse to thinking people are stupid unless given no other reasonable option.

14. Crowley's so stupid, he thought he had a conversation that never took place
Things like that only truly happen with your spouse.

8. No, especially since he left stuff out of the police report, like how he
entered Gates' home. One second he was on the front porch and then at some point, a few sentences later, you realize he's IN the home walking through the foyer toward the front door to leave, yet no mention of whether he had been invited in, whether he muscled his way in, or what. That's a huge red flag. Bad cops conveniently leave out the things THEY did wrong when they write their reports, so you have to read them with an eye for what's missing as well as what is included.

If he was stupid enough to lie in the report, as well as leave things out, he's toast.

17. I was a cop for 5 years...
Most cops are racist, redneck, assholes to be honest. Most of them dont make that much money, and the requirements are pretty light. Most are ex-military, and have significant social and personal issues. Not to mention alcohol abuse and marital problems.

But... when you need one, they sure are great to have around. And we lose several thousand a year in on-duty accidents and shootings.

Being a cop is not an easy life, and its very easy to drift to the dark side.

The whole "just two men clashing over their egos" is an insult to black men, in particular, and to all men, generally.
