Thanks to Colbert, i finally understand why Sarah Palin speaks that way.
Listening to Sarah Palin gives me a headache. Her speech rhythms and inflexions are very odd. She pauses at exactly the wrong times. Her delivery is disjointed and jumbled. I've often wondered what kind of brain produced such a strange flow of verbalized thoughts.

Colbert finally answered my question tonight. He had a box filled with pieces of paper that contained phrases. He pulled out a piece and read the phrase, then another, and another. And he sounded just like Palin. It was genius! He figured out something I've been puzzling about for months!

So here we have Sarah Palin, sounding totally incoherent, being cheered on by her supporters whenever the pitch of her voice rises. I wonder what would happen if someone wrote phrases in Latin on those pieces of paper, added random exclamation points to some phrases as a cue to increase the pitch of her voice, and put them in that box for Sarah. Would her supporters notice the difference?

:P

2. During the campaign,
I had a couple of dreams with her voice in them. Woke me up.

That Colbert bit was perfect, wasn't it? She just strings crap together and delivers them in - I hate to admit this - a very seductive and professional way. She's good as a public speaker, but she says nothing.

She just knows how to rouse the rabble.

In a lot of ways, she's very dangerous and because of that, she really does bear watching.

But John McPOW should write a letter of apology to the entire population of the United States.

Can you imagine that twit Palin as Vice President?

Talk about ducking a bullet........................................

5. You have a point -- she does bear watching.
She could move to Mississippi and get elected to office there.

7. Ah, Blue -
dead right on, I would say.

Chilling, isn't it?

She's dangerous. I mean that, and you know it, don't you?

Again, she bears watching. Calling up the ghost of George Wallace was exactly right. I'd forgotten about him, and Sarah Palin is a much more powerful figure than Wallace; she has a pleasing physical countenance, that photogenic family (forget what lies beneath), and it is all very slick and very appealing. There are the simple-minded who will buy the package, never realizing that it contains dozens of heated cobras.

Thanks for this, Blue. You always come through.

And, I meant to ask you - what is the real story with Palin's son and his joining the military? I hear that he had a choice between doing that and going to the slammer on a drug charge.

Any truth to that?

Again, thanks so much. It doesn't make me feel any better to have read what I did, but people need to know that she's a whole lot more than a joke, and who knows what kind of big money is going to be behind her?

Something's brewing..........................

8. I honestly don't know the truth behind Track's enlistment.
I've heard all the stories you have, or it may have been a vandalism issue. I'm pretty sure Phil knows the truth because he has known the Palins for many years, but he doesn't talk about the kids much, never got into the issue of Trig's parentage, etc., and I don't know anyone else who would know authoritatively.

Maybe the next time I run into him I can pump him for a little more info.

9. Oh,
DO!

Seriously, I'm curious, just wondering about Tawd and Sarah's track (!) record as parents. My guess is that the next two girls will be all right - the older one, I forget her name, is probably going to be the one to get the hell out as fast as she can, as far away from them all as possible.

Thanks, Blue....................

10. Incapable in general, or incapable because a case for the bull she's selling can't be made in
logical terms? Anyway, her worshipers wouldn't know the difference. She throws in the right key and code words and phrases, acts all superior and fiery, and riles up the basest of the base. Quite a talent, if you don't mind your talent being instigating the morans to greater levels of moranocrity!

4. Most people have things they say when they are thinking of something worth saying.
The famous right wing conservative, Will Buckley, he uses slow speech many times.

Some people use 'ahh umm',

Others will use things like, "you must remember that in many cases, it is most of the time something to consider, and many think on things important to all of us, so we can all agree that... blah blah blah"

That whole phrase says nothing but gives thought time while speaking.

Palin pulls things, probably put in her head during her intensive primary cramming sessions, that are fragment sentences from other thoughts. She does it while not able to think of something to say. Or while figuring out what to say.

And because she learned the phrases during cramming sessions, its highly probable she does not know their context, and they are just strings of words stored in a part of her brain that is not cognitive thought with meanings, but is literally like Colbert showed, a bucket of phrases with little meaning put in her head.

16. Actually, I think
it is all part of the pageant / modeling / cheerleading training. The inflection, timing, vocal phrasing, faux energy, and perma-smile, are not designed for use with words that carry substance or even simulate it. This practiced manner is meant for spokesmodels at car dealerships and such, you see it all the time. Most have good enough sense to never run for office, and no one actually expects TV spokesmodels to make any real sense. They are just fine and mostly harmless, when engaged to sell Buicks for a living.

Lawyers become politicians because they are trained in a different style of oratory, one that works with that profession.

23. My Late Public Speaking Teacher Would Have A Field Day With Mooselini
Dear Miss McGee...you are very remembered.

Just because you're a politician doesn't make you a great orator...or communicator. If anything, the modern rushpublican party is void of any real communications, just talking points.

Yep, Stephen nailed it. We could have set a drinking game for her "farewell"...all the right wing buzzwords had to be included. To those of us who lives outside the parallel universe, it was high comedy, but to the dead-enders who are throwing lots of coin at her, it's music to their ears.

Suckers...all of 'em.

25. You just figured that out?
Read any of her speeches, they're nothing but strings of buzzwords and catch-phrases, with obligatory references to God and the holy military shoehorned in every which-way.

Here's a link to my deconstruction of her farewell speech.
