and can start collecting NOW.. I did not think I had vested in the union plan, & have not worked for years & years. I vaguely remembered that there was a pension, but I did not think I had worked long enough. The union has always sent me stuff, but I always just tossed it. I opened one yesterday and it had a phone number so I called it. I became eligible in May of this year. they don't reimburse for back months, but I'm gonna start getting a whopping $397.00 a month forever..Yay!!

I had made a mental note to check into it when I turned 65.. I'm so glad I did not wait until then:)

3. I'm thrilled..
Th elady told me that if I rushed down to the union office today, I could get a check in August, but they close at 2PM and I have no idea where it is, so I'll just ait another month:)
It made my day :)

8. And pension plans are getting even more scarce.
That amount per month might sound like chump change to some, but it might really make a big difference for you two...glad you opened that envelope.

6. Pension
Nice surprise -- like hitting a lottery.

(I'm sure it will make those little grand-babes playing in the yard happy, too!) :)

9. No grand babies yet.
Youngest has been married a year and they want to wait until they are in a home of their own..Oldest's been married 8 years, but they are quite happily childless & the middle is pushing 32 and just broke up with his girlfriend, so it will be a while yet :)

our yard SUCKS anyway :(

7. Nice. I had to burn my 401K last year and may have to burn my IRA to save my home now.
