What is your Homepage?
.
.
.

Long week-end up here in Northern Ontario

My homepage is Google

but my normal "Favorite" is DU

So give us your default, and then maybe a few of your other favorites?

WEATHER comes in close to third for me

but of coarse checking my e-mail is right up there too

If I get enough responses, maybe I or someone else can set up a comprehensive poll.

I'm sure this sort of thing has been done before on DU

But updates in trends are always interesting -

11. Same here!
and it has been since they first started with just a few editorials linked to a few fringe lefty publications. Not only are their own headlines great, they provide links to major news outlets at the bottom, a good place to start the day.

I first found DU because it was linked at Buzzflash.

17. I honestly don't remember if I found DU from Buzzflash linking
Edited on Fri Jul-31-09 10:37 PM by tnlefty
to the top 10 in the humor section or from an old site that I don't know if it exists anymore - hated.com. I lurked around a lot for a while and then signed up. I didn't post anything for a while longer and had to request my sign in info. from the admins.

That was sooo long ago. I remember when the admins asked for input about swearing, my reply was maybe not so much in thread titles as my much younger then boys would look around for interesting things to read about, and they weren't exposed to f this and f that and I had to do some fast scrolling. The youngest is going to start his freshman yr. in high school this year - gulp - marking time by how long I've been a member of DU!

ETA: he was in the first grade and everyone was in elementary school way back then.

I think I found DU from Buzzflash and had it as my Homepage for a long time. But, then more sites came along...so I drifted.

39. Yeah, and the one time they busted one of the sluts so badly they couldn't be ignored by M$M...
... the shill du jour pronounced it "Media Horse Online."

Great fun back in the dawn of the Bush era, when men were men and the large mammals of the Crawford biota kept a wary eye out for late night drunks with phony Southern Kennebunkport accents.

16. Me, too - though I am thinking of changing to the Botany Picture of the Day
http://www.ubcbotanicalgarden.org/potd/

But they do not start out with the enlarged picture like the Astronomy Picture of the Day so it does not give the same instant aesthetic satisfaction.

24. I'm A Creature Of Habit...
All my blogs and sites are in one place...DU, Kos, TPM, Buzzflash, Atrios, ThinkProgress...and my morning "Constitutional" is to work my way down the list (I'm sure I'm not the only one here who does that).

Mine is networked so all my machines have access and I even can "be at home" when I'm traveling. Just less hassles and there's that independent streak in me that say "I own my homepage".

Cheers..

33. It appears that DU and Google are just about tied on this board.
.
.
.

Yahoo sneaked in there, and also a Dictionary and Astronomy site.

A few more responses, and I may(or someone else may) make a comprehensive poll.

I suspect if someone takes it to a poll

DU may well be #1

34. My "home page" is actually a set of tabs on Firefox
Three are news blogs, one is my local weather, fourth is a site that markets farmer's products via online info for farmers markets, online shopping directly with member producers. Then I have bookmarks that open a series of online newspapers & E-zines.

42. MyWay.com
Really fun homepage...you can set up links to all your lefty websites, get weather for all cities you are interested in, set up links to all your fav newspapers, set up a list of reminders, set up your news stories from online news sites, much more. Can choose your colors, background and content. Sort of like a home page at Yahoo, but much easier to set up, and cool looking. You just have to put up with 2 little google ads in the upper right corner. You also get myway email, which I use for throw-away registrations. Have used MyWay for many years now, and love it.

45. I made my own.
Edited on Sun Aug-02-09 10:20 PM by alfredo
I hand coded it many years ago. That was back in the days I copied snippets of code as part of learning how to code. Never went beyond the basics. Someday I will make a new one, but this is OK for my purposes. It is a simple one line, four column table. I put the links in the tables sorted under their category (News, Politics, etc).

You can make your own in KompoZer. It's free.
