San Antonio news anchor slips anti-health reform comment into clunker story
Edited on Fri Jul-31-09 10:33 PM by Cresent City Kid
The San Antonio CBS affiliate, KENS 5, just finished a story about the cash for clunkers program. It was a thinly veiled anti-government piece, making dealers and car buyers victims of government caused confusion. Some schmuck was trying to trade in for a truck that got 15 mpg, not the point of the program. They talked about the dealers who sold cars and might wind up on the hook for the rebates. I guess some government angel was supposed to fly in and tell them about a program that they could have researched themselves.

After the piece, the anchor, Chris Marrou chimes in with, "And these are the people who want to run your healthcare." I lost it and just hit the channel down button to get this schmuck off my TV. I got the NBC affiltate, WOAI which was just starting their clunker story, covered without the potshot at the government. They followed with the healthcare story, listing the benefits which made me exclaim with glee, "These are the people who want to fix my healthcare."

If you're in San Antonio, avoid KENS 5, watch WOAI.

1. I was thinking perhaps we had a Sinclair affiliate here...
Nope, the station is owned by the Belo Corporation.

2. Irony alert

Every ad during the newscast was a car dealer promoting, yep, cash for clunkers.

(edit) Sinclair runs the FOX affiliate here. I don't even want to know what's going on there.

3. More irony.
San Antonio is full of military bases, military folks and at least two big military hospitals.

Ever hear of Brook Army Medical Center, home of Brook Army Burn Center?

You will if you are ever burned terribly. That's where you will go, whether you're military or civilian.

It's simply the best.
