Todd and Sarah Palin to Divorce
Source: Alaska Report

AlaskaReport has learned this morning that Todd Palin and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin are to divorce. Multiple sources in Wasilla and Anchorage have confirmed the news.

A National Enquirer story exposing previous affairs on both sides led to a deterioration of their marriage and the stress from that led to Palin's resignation as governor of Alaska.

The Palins were noticeably not speaking to each other at last Sunday's resignation speech in Fairbanks.

Sarah has recently purchased land in Montana and is considering moving the family there.

Sorry, but I've heard too many men speak of women this way, regardless of their view towards them as individuals..e.g. "I'd like to have a piece of that".

heard it being used by women towards men, but I doubt it's as common..It's wrong, either way.

how lame you sound?

You may be trying wildly reduce her to her genitals, and so seemingly defend the "it" here but if there wasn't something physically attractive about her face and visible body, they wouldn't want what you're rather absurdly referring to as "it",anyway.

p.s. I like her no more than anyone else here, but it's got zip to do with her attractiveness or lack of such....As is, you're not putting down Palin the Person, you're just slurring the female gender....Think about it.

Especially if Gov. Perry appoints himself to the senate seat vacated by Ms. Kay Bailey Hutchinson. TX has no income tax, and this would get her far away from Todd if that is what she wants.

90. Hey I like your name
Back in the 80's our representative in the CA state Assembly was Sal Cannella, known among his constituents as Sal Monella.

Sal was a Dem, but he was the kind of big-bidness-loving, high living, developer-pleasing Dem we seem to always get stuck with around here.

He used to wear his cowboy boots when he came out to speak to the hicks in the district. But his boots were spit shined. You could see your reflection in them.

One day he went on a tour with us to inspect flood damage at a local dairy. He slipped on a cow turd and fell right on his ass in another one.. In his brand new pressed and creased, jeans.

We all tried to stifle a guffaw. I was successful but not everybody was.

132. How about Shrub's "cowboy" boots -- if he'd ever accidentally somehow
managed to step into a cowflop, I'm sure he would have expected his Secret Service guys to rescue him.

Do you remember the photo of * with a couple horses, apparently taken to "prove" that he wasn't afraid of horses -- the two horses were standing just over the shoulder of the road * was standing on -- I personally think the hooves were not shown because the horses were immobilized by staked-to-the-ground ankle shackles.

I was always surprised people didn't make more of a "ranch" in TEXAS, ferpetesake, with NOT A HORSE OR A COW IN SIGHT??? And a rented barn on somebody else's property for "ranch" photos?

At least his Fancified Presidentin' "Cowboy" Boots were made with plain old dogger heels instead of undershot western heels -- his bootmaker had the grace to spare him a little hypocrisy.

Can you imagine having to use an outhouse in Alaska? There'd be no need for toilet paper--instead of wiping, you just wait ten seconds until it freezes and peel it off.

384. I think that's part of it
My opinion on the resignation: if she would have remained governor, a scandal she couldn't have shaken off, even though she's packed the ethics committee, would have emerged. She got rid of Troopergate by launching her own investigation ahead of the state one. The house might have done it, but I don't know...since she was still mayor of Dogpatch when the house was built, maybe the committee won't see it as a problem. (Investigating scandals that happened before you got your current office is only done to Democratic governors from the South.) There's probably something huge out there we just don't see, and that's why Sarah hauled ass now.

"maybe she'll look at me,", etc. Not a word of this is over in Freeperland. My other thought on this goes back to her ethics problems and the money it cost to pay them off. Todd used to have money in the bank, these ethics problems have cost big. Sarah, to me, has never really been all that interested in politics per se, it's the show biz, camera ready, applause when on stage that appeals to her. I honestly don't think she gives a fig about politics, she would be more knowledgeable and I think it was a way to a means. I got it! She wants Tina Fey's job, that's it.....LOL.

48. Look at her personal history. She loves competing.

The sad part in politics and apparently even more so in Alaska Politics is that the skills needed to win and the skills needed to govern are getting to be two separate things.

You could say George HW Bush and "W" both knew what it took to win. His dad at least had an idea of what was needed to govern. So run the dirty campaign about personal destruction but run the country more pragmatically. That was not a lesson "W" learned.

Fear Palin would have been the same way.

They want all the glory but NONE of the duty. They just want the title and crown. The responsibility it entails can be put in the hands of their underlings and financiers. This is why the US has run amok and been led astray for twenty eight years (or 40 . . . or 400, depending on which historian you ask).

51. Fundies have the HIGHEST divorce rates...
http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_dira.htm

George Barna, president and founder of Barna Research Group, commented:

"While it may be alarming to discover that born again Christians are more likely than others to experience a divorce, that pattern has been in place for quite some time. Even more disturbing, perhaps, is that when those individuals experience a divorce many of them feel their community of faith provides rejection rather than support and healing. But the research also raises questions regarding the effectiveness of how churches minister to families. The ultimate responsibility for a marriage belongs to the husband and wife, but the high incidence of divorce within the Christian community challenges the idea that churches provide truly practical and life-changing support for marriages."

According to the Dallas Morning News, a Dallas TX newspaper, the national study "raised eyebrows, sowed confusion, even brought on a little holy anger." This caused George Barna to write a letter to his supporters, saying that he is standing by his data, even though it is upsetting. He said that "We rarely find substantial differences" between the moral behavior of Christians and non-Christians. Barna Project Director Meg Flammang said: "We would love to be able to report that Christians are living very distinct lives and impacting the community, but ... in the area of divorce rates they continue to be the same." Both statements seem to be projecting the belief that conservative Christians and liberal Christians have the same divorce rate. This disagrees with their own data.

Denomination (in order of decreasing divorce rate)
% who have been divorced

Non-denominational ** 34%
Baptists 29%
Mainline Protestants 25%
Mormons 24%
Catholics 21%
Lutherans 21%

** Barna uses the term "non-denominational" to refer to Evangelical Christian congregations that are not affiliated with a specific denomination. The vast majority are fundamentalist in their theological beliefs.

Jews 30%
Born-again Christians 27%
Other Christians 24%
Atheists, Agnostics 21%

George Barna is the frequent cause of exploding heads among the religious right. Especially since Barna himself is a very strict Fundamentalist and sometimes draws conclusions from his research that support his own opinions. But at least he always makes that clear.

Two other cases I remember:

--After 9/11, the holy-rollers bloviated endlessly that more Americans were attending church more often. The Barna polls showed a minor uptick in church attendance for a few weeks after the event, followed by a plunge back to the usual low numbers.

--For all the Xian wrath spent on Bill Clinton during "Monicagate," Barna's polling showed that self-identified Evangelicals supported Evil Bill in roughly the same numbers as everybody else. Clinton's approval rating among that group stayed at a steady 60-65%.

133. They actually THINK they are BETTER than others.
They really do.

They are "saved".

I sit next to a fundy catholic at work.
I'm in sales, and they always futz around
with how the coveted "call-in leads" are
distributed.

They announced that they would distribute the
leads by geographic area, determined by what
zones we are working.

Fine.

Then when these "good" leads started coming
in, I realized that they had switched to
alphabetical order to pass them out.

When I commented on what a lousy idea that
was, and that I preferred the geographic
distribution, he said that some people
might have zones that get more call-in leads
than others.

I told him that was tough luck.

He said, and I'm not making this up:
"Well, my socialist friend, sitting next
to me is having an effect, don't you think
the alphabetical distribution is more "fair"
to spread the leads around? You're becoming
a CAPITALIST!!"

Time for some schooling for this person, whose
only REAL problem is his intelligence level...

I told him:

"Look, if management SAYS they're handing them
out "alphabetically", who's going to KNOW when
they just GIVE THEM AWAY as FAVORS, LIKE THEY
ALWAYS DO....If they are handed out geographically,
they can't get AWAY WITH CORRUPTION.
Then I told him that I will NEVER become a proponent
of the "crony capitalism" that is KILLING his chance
of success at our office. He had to THINK about that.

(Who's zoomin who?)

now see divorce as a civil matter, settling financial affairs. However, it does not dissolve the marriage in the eyes of God. So, if you have sex again, it's adultery. And, of course, you may not re-marry anyone else.

169. The moment you hear "I'm a Christian" is when you need to be on guard.
I've never met anyone who acted in His name who had to tell me, or anyone else, they were, in fact, a Christian. They live it.

On the other hand, the few who won't quit telling me of their devotion are serial adulterers, tax cheats and will steal from anyone who let's them, even family - and that's just what I know about them. Go figure. But I wouldn't relish the rewards of living in a state of breaking three out of ten commandments on a daily basis if I believed in their concept of heaven and hell. No wonder they're so screwed up.

Before anyone gets on me about being a basher, my mother is being watched over by the former lot and it's taken a huge load off the family. I can't even begin to repay their deeds except to emulate their behavior and pay it forward when I can. Real Christians, decent people, who don't use the Bible to excuse their atrocities against others do exist, and I'm blessed to know a bunch of them.

Sarah and Todd? Who'd a thought. Oh, and that winking has always creeped me out to no end.

326. Amazing to see, isn't it? Some liberals would feel pity for Pinochet too.
But I don't think Palin is a "laughingstock".

Stalin, Hitler & Mussolini were figures of ridicule. Who sparked a minority mob's passions. All were failed artists (Stalin: failed poet, Hitler: failed painter, Mussolini: failed journalist, Palin: failed sportscaster). All single-mindedly obsessed with power at any cost. All SHOCKED the majority who had written them off with ridicule.

Stalin was from Georgia, a Russian backwater analogous to Alaska, a region ridiculed as hillbilly, and a region that has political movements for independence.

Palin will start a Third Party called either "Maverick Party" or "National Unity Party". Mark my words.

hadn't been using "family values" as a club and a weapon to attack anyone they disagree with politically, I might agree with you, but she made her own bed, as has every other Republican. If exposure of their hypocrisy is what it takes to purge American politics of scum like her, then so be it. Compared to the political and social damage that people like her do and intend to do, a bit of dismay on the part of her family means nothing.

86. Todd gets left behind
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/07/27/2011525.aspx

Sarah Palin not only left her perch in the governor's office; she also left behind her husband Todd after yesterday's ceremony in Fairbanks.

After swearing in the new governor, Palin made a quick exit with daughter Piper and son Trigg in tow. She jumped in a Chevy Silverado twin cab driven by her security detail.

Todd Palin followed just seconds behind, and was left struggling to avoid a phalanx of cameras. The problem: His family had already left.

After reviewing our camera tape, you can hear someone ask, "No car for Todd?" Then Todd, the former First Dude, laughs and says, "They left me."

The sexists here will, of course, claim that it's "different". They just won't be able to say HOW, since race and gender are both "conditions of birth" and wholly unrelated to character.

It's just a BIG DOUBLE STANDARD.

No Truth to Latest Rumors

Yet again, some so-called journalists have decided to make up a story. There is no truth to the recent “story” (and story is the correct term for this type of fiction) that the Palins are divorcing. The Palins remain married, committed to each other and their family, and have not purchased land in Montana (last week it was reported to be Long Island).

Less than one week ago, Governor Palin asked the media to “quit making things up.” We appreciate that the more professional journalists decided to question this story before repeating it.

this could be part of Palin's strategy... she has a couple of people leak to the AlaskaReport that she and Todd are divorcing ... then when the media picks up on the story she can come out deny it and then bash the media. This gets her headlines and more attention ;)

that Palin is sending out so many people to deny a story on a blog that most people have never heard of before.
So far Meg Stapleton her PR gal, Van Flein the attorney and s couple people at CBS have made comments - and now they are saying that even Sarah might come out with a statement later today.
Seems like a lot of denying going on for a story that they say is not true.
I think that blogger's sources must have had GOOD info and the Palin folks are going beezerk right about now!

I just hope that every time someone says something about her in a blog article that she and her crew aren't going to come out and make such a fuss just to get media attention!

Edited on Sat Aug-01-09 06:03 PM by spanone
Yet again, some so-called journalists have decided to make up a story. There is no truth to the recent “story” (and story is the correct term for this type of fiction) that the Palins are divorcing. The Palins remain married, committed to each other and their family, and have not purchased land in Montana (last week it was reported to be Long Island).

Less than one week ago, Governor Palin asked the media to “quit making things up.” We appreciate that the more professional journalists decided to question this story before repeating it.

I'm getting the popcorn out. I thought early this spring that this summer's drama would be about immigration and health care and maybe an International incident.
I didn't count on Palin and the entire GOP melting down this early in the year.

CBS is saying that the Palin camp says the rumors are false.

However, Alaskareport has multiple sources.

I guess by tmw AlaskaReport or the other blog will have to reveal a source to show credibility. Or show some sort of evidence.

This smells like a set up to make the phantom liberal media look like liars, as she just had a speech about it. This is what she will base her campaign on in 12. The freedom of the press, along with many others is in the balance.

401. She can base her campaign on it, but
she's a joke, her credibility is shot to hell so it's unlikely to make an impact. Palin has lied and obfuscated and dissembled so many times, only her most rabid supporters believe anything she says. 2012 is a long time away, plenty of time for her to dig herself into a deeper doo-doo hole than the one she's already in.

align with a Buddhist group somewhere, perhaps in India, Todd being a guy who goes to the source of the stream and all.

All of his business associates in Alaska would be left calling Todd on his cell but Todd will have left the cell back home, and will be many thousands of miles gone in shaved-head contemplation, eating one meal a day, sprouts and carrots and the like, striving to dissolve Self into the broader infinity.

Ring, ring, ring goes his cell phone back in Juneau.

Did Sarah Palin just 'Pwn' the media with divorce rumors?

Rick Moran

This is highly speculative but you've probably heard by now that a couple of Alaska liberal bloggers "broke" the story about Sarah Palin's supposed impending divorce from her husband.

It sure sounded solid coming from Alaska Report News:

AlaskaReport has learned today that Todd Palin and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin are to divorce. Multiple sources in Wasilla and Anchorage (including a former Palin staffer) have confirmed the split.

A National Enquirer story exposing previous affairs on both sides led to a deterioration of their marriage and the stress from that led to Palin's resignation as governor of Alaska last week.

The Palins were noticeably not speaking to each other for most of last Sunday's resignation speech in Fairbanks. Sarah ditched Todd (MSNBC) right after the speech and left without him. Sarah removed her wedding ring a couple of weeks ago.

Sarah has recently purchased land in Montana and is considering moving the family there. Sarah Palin is originally from Idaho.

Very interesting. But not true, according to Stacy McCain who evidently talked directly to Palin or someone who was authorized to speak on her behalf:

"Divorce Todd? Have you seen Todd? I may be just a renegade hockey mom, but I'm not blind!"
-- SARAH PALIN
Yes, that is her OFFICIAL reponse, which I got via phone at 5:35 this afternoon. Take that to the bank.

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Palin camp planted the divorce story so they can accuse the media of attacking her again.

And Palin may well be able to play the wronged heroine plagued by the lyin' media, one of her favorite poses if it turns out to be untrue. It's not coming from news sources I trust.

And even if it is true, why is THIS story at the top at DU? Do we really think it is the most important of all the stories? This is a waste of time and an embarrassment.

Good grief. This is NOT from credible sources and is NOT an important story, yet here it is in everyone's face at the top of DU's greatest. Come ON, people! Lots of threads I think are important are buried in dungeons like the one for 9/11-related threads, and we are told this is to preserve DU's reputation. Guess this rumor-based gossip about a horrible woman who craves attention is more important than discussion of 9/11 cover-ups, eh?
