GE Puts the Lid on Olbermann's Scathing Attacks on O'Reilly
GE Puts the Lid on Olbermann's Scathing Attacks on O'Reilly

http://blog.buzzflash.com/node/9125

By Mark Karlin

For nearly 10 years, BuzzFlash has asked its readers for financial support because it doesn't accept advertising.

Now Keith Olbermann knows why.

In a deal between the head of GE (the owner of MSNBC) and Murdoch's FOX News reported in The New York Times, it was agreed that Olbermann would back off his chronic lacerating caricatures of Bill O'Reilly (although it can still be expected that he will go after O'Reilly and FOX, but much less frequently).

In return, FOX and O'Reilly, in particular, will stop attacking the business dealings of GE. Are you getting the picture of how even MSNBC is affected by big corporate ownership?

1. You had to expect the corporate pigs to step in and protect the mouth piece of the right

2. And the head of GE trusts them? Their (Faux) word is no good IMHO. Born manipulators.

3. Keith said he'd stop talking about O'Reilly right after Dr. Tiller was killed
Edited on Sat Aug-01-09 05:32 PM by rocktivity
What IS this--an accusation that Keith used Tiller as an "opportunity" to follow GE's orders while making it look like his "quarantine" of O'Reilly was conceived by his own journalistic and ethical outrage?

4. This might be more believable if
it had been reported before Keith's mini rant about haters and how their words do cause death and his statement that he would not give Billo anymore free publicity after Dr. Tillers was murdered. Seems kind of weird that it comes out weeks later and while Keith was on vacation. Funny how these stories seem to appear when he is on vacation.

5. So who is going to call Fox on their lies, now? Is this why KO has
been gone so long?

7. And You Expected ????
GE has been a leader in right wing politics for most of its existence. The GE Theater TV program back in the 1950s starred Ronald Reagan (remember him?). During the off season, Reagan would tour the country sponsored by GE giving speeches supporting the McCarthy hearings and spearheading the drive the fire progressives in the entertainment industry.

Many GE plants were organized by the United Electrical Workers (UE) in those days (before all appliance manufacturing was off-shored). GE's goal was to break the union, and did in many places.

NOTHING has changed since the 1950s at GE. NOTHING.

Keith Olbermann is a great guy. But he works for GE. That's the bottom line.

8. I still believe KO did it because of Tiller
and the honchos came up with a face saver.
So if it is true when KO comes back he will no longer knock dumb fuck Beck and slant head because they are FUXers also, right?

9. I don't believe this crap at all, it's just a bunch of execs trying to save face.
I am amazed anyone believes it enough to write about it. But then again, if you think, as some people insist on thinking, that Keith Olbermann is a mere puppet whose strings are pulled by GE...yeah, that'll be the day.
