2. I wasn't going to watch but thought, oh what the heck
And I'm so glad I did. Even when they might have all agreed on the Cambridge incident, they disagreed with her overall assessment.

And before that it was the unemployment compensation extension followed by the health care discussion. Malkin looked like a fool when they got done with her.

The nice thing was that I never for one second felt sorry for her.

3. She should have left after they
mentioned her new book. That's the only reason she was there. It was obvious that none of the other panelists had any patience for her bullshit.

33. No, I don't think so.
I have to admit, she does tend to cast a skeptical eye on the usual hoaxes--Ashley Todd, for instance, she was way ahead of the Freepers on that one.

11. They were polite, but quite dismissive. It's as if she wasn't really there.
As much as I was hoping she'd get all loony and entertaining, she realized they'd go for the kill if she didn't behave and kept her insane opinions all to herself.

You gotta wonder what it's like to have all those crazy demons screaming in you head and being unable to let it out.

28. Who were these "real journalists?"
Did somebody let Palast or Hersch and a few BBC international correspondents into the country as a brief antidote to George (supercilious) Will or Cokie (deviated septum) Roberts?

How the hell can you watch these poseurs and pretend you're watching actual reporters at work?

29. Real journalists? Um, it's teevee.
People take the "Sunday shows" too seriously. They're the same dogshit as the rest of the week, just gussied up with an air of solemnity.

19. I'm glad she's on the show
She's a billboard for the Republicon party. Are you out of work? Malkin doesn't care. She's not worried about you making your next house payment. She's worried about how lazy you are.

There's nothing wrong with extending unemployment benefits. In fact, it helps the economy when there's no net job creation. It gets dollars in pockets that will get spent. And it helps people make their house and car payments.

So I'm happy to see Michelle Malkin on the tv being callous to unemployed Americans. It's good for our cause.

"good for the cause."

Fact is- it's proven not to be. At best it reinforces and cultivates similar attitudes- making them seem acceptable.

26. On the contrary
She's on a show where the counterpoint can be presented. That doesn't happen on AM radio or Faux News.

So let her have a callous and uncaring view. Then let us present our side, and the majority of people will choose us over her.

30. On the surface, you're absolutely right
but underneath, the message sent is that a person can do and say abhorrent things- and be popped right up there on national TV. It says to people- it's alright and acceptable to lie and race bait in the worst sorts of ways.

The bounds of acceptable behavior are important- and interesting to look at cross culturally.

In America- lies (demonstrably false statements of fact) are perfectly acceptable forms of behavior- indeed, over the last 20 years or so, they've become expected on TV. It's not "objective journalism" when they aren't afforded equal time alongside actual facts.

Same is true with vile and vulgar statements- to a point. Unlike most other western nations, certain words (as opposed to meanings) aren't acceptable and will be bleeped out. As will the slightest glimpse of a woman's nipple. Strange, since sex sells in America even more so than it does abroad- and vulgarity is just as common.

When the Malkins and the Coulters are given a national stage, it inherently says to us "approval" - despite what they say and represent. Like O'Reilly, it eggs more on. And what it eggs on just dumbs us down andmakes the nation more dysfunctional.

37. She did make the case that extending unemployment benefits...
...is the reason the unemployed haven't yet found work. She was then trampled by the others on the fact that people aren't out of work because they aren't looking or are lazy...people are out of work because there are NO JOBS out there. And they gave examples.

That said, I don't want to give such a hateful person a platform or any credibility. She is pretty extreme.

24. She's just the face her husband uses to promote his propaganda.
Here's the real person behind the scenes.

Jesse Malkin, the Rand Institute toady.

How long would you think people would listen to a guy who looks like a nebbish spouting racist garbage? He uses his wife as a living sock-puppet.

Wouldn't have many freepers wacking it if it was this guy saying those outlandish things on TV, instead of his wife.
